Studio engineers requiring powerful, accurate monitoring will be dazzled by the right-side, black HEDD Audio Type 20 MK2, a three-way active studio monitor well suited for compact recording studios, home studios, small mastering studios, or anywhere else that requires full-range midfield monitoring. Use as a compliment to the separately available left-side speaker.

The Type 20 MK2 adds several enhancements including the onboard Lineariser, a phase linearization tool that audibly improves spatial reproduction, as well as a port plug that allows the monitor to go from a bass reflex design to a sealed infinite baffle. The rear panel features a Closed or Ported selection knob, a Low Frequency Extension control, and a Desktop Filter control to dial in your best sound. The 3-way design combines a 7" honeycomb composite woofer, a 4" midrange honeycomb driver, and a HEDD Air Motion Transformer (HEDD AMT) tweeter to provide an accurate frequency response of 32 Hz to 40 kHz with a maximum SPL of 120 dB (with two speakers at 1m.)

The sturdy unibody casing features updated lacquer for higher durability and better looks. The enclosure ensures that the cabinet remains stable and provides effortless audio even at full power. The ICEpower amplifier offers 300W per driver (900W total) and is universally powered for compatibility anywhere in the world. • Implemented in the MK2 and subwoofer models is the well-known Lineariser, a phase linearization tool that leads to perfect impulse response and audibly improved spatial reproduction
  • The MK2 version has new and improved lacquer for higher durability and better looks

  • For the first time, you can choose between the energy and bass capacities of a modern bass-port design and the painstaking precision and control of a closed-cabinet approach
  • Removable plugs for the bass reflex tubes together with complimentarily designed filter setups allow optimum results in either mode

  • HEDD Audio introduces a completely phase linear Sat-Sub system. These are the first Satellite Sub systems that are completely right in time, created by combining a phase linearized subwoofer (separately sold) with a correspondingly time delayed (group delayed) satellite output
  • Additionally, the listener can compensate eventual distances between subwoofers and satellites to stay with linear phase reproduction for the complete system

  • Woofer: 7" honeycomb diaphragm
  • Midrange: 4" honeycomb diaphragm
  • Tweeter: HEDD AMT
  • Input 1: Balanced XLR Analog / Impedance: 22 kilohms
  • Input 2: Digital XLR AES

[Black] JBLs are great if you want lots of bass but the KRKs are good for accurate sound design

[Black] The KH310 produces a beautiful three dimensional sound field. The sound stage has excellent width and depth.

Good recordings are reproduced with highs that shimmer, timber and detail that is exciting, smooth and dynamic mids and authoritative lows.

I paired them with two KH750 subs. Wow!!!

[Active 3-Way] Bought these last week, & couldn't wait for them to arrive. After installing them, I was blown away by the fact that they were just as loud as my mackie mr8's in an a/b test. Of course the mr8's more low end, but the clarity of the cms50's across the entire frequency spectrum was nothing short of amazing. Thanks Focal & BH!!!

[Horizontal] Side by side comparison to ADAM speakers revealed these are the best speakers on the market. They have very clear and big bass. And they have very clear mids and highs. If clarity and low end boom and bass clarity is your thing, then these speakers are the best you will find in the music store. They are better than ADAM Audio speakers in a side by side comparison the rep took me thru, it was close with ADAM being second, but after listening to the EVE SC208s, the ADAMS started to sound just a little more muffled than when I first heard them before hearing the EVE SC208s, and EVE SC208 gave off a big clear, defined, tight bass that was better than ADAM's. Surprisingly the budget Mackie MR8 MK3 kinda came in close third place in all the test. Mackie has bass too and pretty clear mids in the MK3 series only, but EVE's are the best of all on the shelf music store monitors. They are the most expensive tho, so you know why, but you get what you pay for. If you want the monitor with the biggest baddest clearest bass and mids and highs that are not fatiguing at long periods of time, then you will have to pay the cost to be the boss with these.

[Horizontal] These monitor speakers, although pricy, are very well suited to mixing and editing in protools for a studio either at home or in a formal studio setting. They are transparent with a very flat sound that does not emphasize any particular aspect of the frequency spectrum. Flat sound as used here is a good thing. The bass is surprisingly strong in my editing room which only about 8' x 10'. I did add a subwoofer for frequencies below 50Hz. The highs are exceptionally clear and the midrange very smooth. These speakers are very easy on the ears even after several hours editing. I highly recommend them. I use them mainly to edit recording of live theatrical musical performances.

[Black] I needed to replace an old KRK to match a G3 that I already have... and thankfully I was still able to buy this. It appears to be identical to a G3 with a different name. I'm glad I didn't have to go with the G4s, as the EQ screen on that model is worthless to me. Very happy with my purchase.

[120 dB] The large KH420 as well as its junior brother, the KH310, create a remarkably clean sound. They are scientifically designed by real audio engineers in Germany and offer the recording engineer or producer an extremely accurate sound. (What else would you expect from Neumann?) They are tri-amped speakers with very sharp digital 24db/octave crossovers The electronics (3 channels per speaker) are built in. All the speakers need is a line level, balanced input, such as you can easily get from the likes of a Grace m920 or M905, or just board out. The KH420's are designed for normal listening at a distance of 5 to 10 feet. The smaller KH310's do just as well sonically but they are intended to be closer to the listener's ears, say 3-5 ft. as they would be sitting on a console's meter section. The commenter has a pair of EACH of the speakers, so he knows first hand what he is describing. They are simply the very, very finest speaker systems I have heard in over 50 years of critical listening. They are pure gold. They are just super delicious to hear. Toss your hifi speakers out the window and upgrade to these very professional speaker systems. They are worth every penny, and you will never regret buying them. Just be certain you have an extremely clean signal to feed to them. Any sonic defects in source material will instantly be revealed. Not for the faint of heart!

[38.435 lb] These should be on your list for consideration.

I've been using them for audio and video projects and very pleased with their sonic quality and accuracy. I've used KRKs in other editing rooms and always impressed with the sound. The price point along with B&H customer service are the main reasons why I made the purchase!

[Active] 22 years ago an audio rep at B&H helped me build my first recording studio. I didn't know enough then to realize how stellar the recommendations that were made were. In early 2022 I decided to do an entire upgrade to my studio, from computers to software etc. One of the original recommendations for monitors were the original Mackie HR824's. They are used as near field monitors. One of the amps on one monitor blew out. So I found my self on a search. I went through the usual suspects. Almost went for the Yamaha's but at the end of the day, i purchased 2 brand new Mackie HR8242. I can't believe they are even better than the originals. Clean, crisp, and flat, every mix sounds as its supposed to, in the studio, on my beats, in my car, on the phone, and on the web. They really are just spectacular monitors. Well worth the price of admission without a doubt.
