The FotodioX PRONTO Autofocus Adapter Leica M to Nikon Zfrom FotodioX PRONTO Autofocus Adapter Leica M to Nikon Zis designed to allow Leica M-mount lenses that be used on select Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. This adapter can also improve near-range portraiture by allowing the lens to focus closer than its normal minimum focus distance. By placing space between the camera body and lens, focusing distance is shortened and the effect of magnifying your subject is created. Additionally, the adapter can be combined with separately available lens to Leica M-mount camera adapters to enable use of other lens types.

For focus control, this adapter features a built-in helicoid that extends and retracts a compatible lens based on the connected camera's contrast detection AF-S or AF-C autofocus. Designed to support focusing to infinity, the adapter is constructed from brass and aluminum alloy and utilizes a brass lens mounting ring to provide a durable, yet lightweight camera-to-lens connection.

The button on the side of the PRONTO is a mappable Fn button, just like the L-Fn button on native Z-mount lenses! This function button also allows the user to enter various focus modes as well as setting the focal length and maximum aperture of the lens used on the adapter for optimum compatibility. This adapter will support both AF-S and AF-C focusing modes, face detection, and stabilization on supported cameras.

A manual lens needs to be focused manually - right! Not so with the FotodioX Pro PRONTO adapter. If you want to automatically focus your M-mount lenses on your Nikon Z-mount camera just attach it to the PRONTO adapter. Half-press the shutter button to activate AF and the PRONTO adapter will focus just like any other AF lens. Performance is optimal with 50mm and wider lenses.

Improve close focusing with the FotodioX Pro PRONTO adapter by attaching your lens and setting to the closest focus distance possible. This setup will allow you to use the PRONTO adapter as a 5mm extension tube with autofocus capabilities that will significantly shorten the minimum focus distance of your lens. The wider the lens, the stronger the effect will be.

The PRONTO adapter has a Leica M-mount, but the options don't stop there. With the use of additional adapters, you are able to adapt nearly any lens to Leica M, attach to the PRONTO adapter and enable them to be used with autofocus. Not all adapters will work due to size limitations imposed by the motor housing of the PRONTO adapter.

[Nikon Z] I bought this in order to use my old Nikon SLR lenses on my Leica M3. With this combination, I will have to guess the focus distance which will not be that hard for wide-angle lenses. I already have a Leica multi-focal length finder which has a setting for 35mm lenses. I was amazed at how well made this adapter is. It is easy to mount a Nikon lens on it and to mount the adapter on my Leica. It fits perfectly.

[Nikon Z] The FotodioX Pro PRONTO Autofocus Adapter worked as advertised on my Micro Nikkor 105mm 2.8 and my Nikkor 50 mm 1.4 prime lenses. It struggled with both of my zoom lenses. I needed to purchase the FotodioX NIK-L/M adapter for my Nikkor glass. The FotodioX website denotes both of these cautions in the products description details. Thus far my greatest success has been in bright sunshine; I have not tested the unit with flash photography. When I have secured proper photos I will add them to this review.

[Nikon Z] i was surprised as to how well this fits on my Leica M240, adapting Nikon mount lenses. Really solid with zero play. No complaints!

[Nikon Z] Ready to sell a 50mm Sumicron, I decided to give this adapter a try on my J4 and J5. The Nikon zooms are outstanding but this is better clarity, contrast, color and detail. All! And f2. Yeah, sure, its all manual- but then it always was! The only practical limitation otherwise is the focusing on the screen; nudge, nudge as opposed to the instant lock-on with the M rangefinder. Do yourself a huge favor and don't sell your M glass until you try this bad boy on your 1. Superb build quality and utility for a pittance. Go B&H!

[Nikon Z] Just got this adapter and probably mine is newer than what the other reviewer got. I have the red dot for both sides (Nikon & Leica) and both flanges are very smooth and well machined. The Leica side does the desired click when it's in place. My 35 Years Old Nikkor 28mm works like a charm on my Leica M now.

[Brass, Aluminum] I have original Techart Gen 1 that worked fine with A73 and A7C.
That stopped as I upgraded to A7R4 and A1, it was near useless, only sometimes nailing focus after lots of searching.

Techart isn't updating that version or offering new one.

This Gen 2 pronto works perfectly with A1, and quite fast, though it seems to be a bit quicker and more sure footed with longer (physical forward, not rotational) throw lenses like Voigtlander Ultron 35 1.7 and 50 1.2, as compared to Leica Summarit 35 2.5, which exhibits miniscule movement back and forth in order to focus. Anyhow, it does work with all my Leica lenses, including Leica 50 2.5. 90 2.5, Minolta Rokkor 4.0 and old Leica Thumbar(?) 90mm 4.0 (from 50s?). I don't have A7r4 anymore, but failures of first gen adapter were the same on both A1 and A7r4, so I assume it would work everywhere. It's quite a speed beast on Ultron 1.7 and A1! Compared to Gen 1 and A7c/A73

Now I wonder if Techart was ever real inventor, and Fotodiox one to copy design, as was popular lore?! Or firmware developer moved the company, or some sort of for pay development between these two companies etc...

[Nikon Z] Well built, fits nice and tight with authoritative click. I use it to mount several Nikon lenses I have. I also have a number of Leica lenses but this gives me a little experimental option using the Nikon lenses.

[Nikon Z] Works well for about a tenth the cost of the others.

[Nikon Z] Well made, and engineering tolerances are very close in deed. Attaching the adapter to a Nikon lens has a very distinctive tight click. And vice versa attaching the adapter to the Leica camera has a very distinct click with very tight fitting connection. Up to Leica standards.
