The Freewell Magnetic Glow Mist Filter 1/8 58mmfrom Freewell Magnetic Glow Mist Filter 1/8 58mmis a 1/8-grade 58mm filter that softens lens flare due to subject highlights. It provides a light diffusion over the entire image area, reducing saturation for a softer, more pastel effect. The magnetic quick-swap feature allows filters to be attached or exchanged in moments without losing precious time to screw them into place. Attach the magnetic base ring in place by screwing it onto the front of a lens like a traditional filter, then simply snap the magnetic quick-swap filter in place on the base ring.

[Glass] I bought this to experiment taking outdoor portraits with OCF without using the HSS feature on my Godox strobes. HSS uses a lot of power from the battery, so avoiding that issue was important to me. The Freewell VND filter has been well received. I didn't want to invest too deeply, so this product fit my budget. I bought the 77mm size because that is the largest size I would need. I have another lens with just a 72mm filter size, so I'll get a step-up ring for that. The filter seems well made and I like the hard stops for the different densities. The magnetic lens cap is working fine so far, although others have concerns about how long it will hold over time. I do not have mirrorless cameras, so I'll have to work with live view. My concern is focus accuracy when using wider apertures. Worst case is to have to set the focus with the filter set to its weakest effect, and then close it down prior to the actual exposure. My only negative about this filter is the absence of front filter threads. I would prefer to be able to use the lens hood. The lenses feel naked to me without one. Other than that, I feel that the Freewell product is a good balance between quality, value and price. I might add that I bought the standard vs the mist version. If I want a slightly softer image, I can add it later in post if desired. 5

[Glass] I've standardized on this 82mm size with magnetic step ups on smaller lenses. It's great having one set of filters and that's it, no matter which lenses you're bringing along for the day. Being magnetic and quick means you're more likely to use them instead of just lazily skipping filters because the threaded ones are so tedious. 5

[Glass] We have a Mavic 3 pro at work, but these filters make using my MINI 4 pro my preferred drone to work with. With a fixed 1.7 aperture on the MINI 4 Pro I love the image quality these offer allowing my to keep the shutter angle at 180. A must have! 5

[Glass] The filter works very well and due to the magnetic ring can be installed very easily. The ring even has a thread so you can use existing screw-on filter without having to remove the magnetic ring. I particularly like the magnetic lens cap. The magnets so far have been strong enough to hold everything in place. 5

[Glass] I have a full set of the Xume magnetic filter rings and lens caps. One of the caps was lost and it was going to cost me $150 to replace it used since they don't make them anymore, shame. The Freewell caps work great and for much less. They are not a perfect fit, they move around just a little bit, but hey, it's a lens cap and the magnets grab and hold on. Great solution if you are in the same situation I was. 5
