A: The Kopul LMT100 has a small matching transformer incorporated into the XLR connector to match the impedance in ohms between the two devices ( microphone to DSLR ). This will guarantee that your audio is on both tip and ring or left and right channels when connected to your DSLR. That is why it cost more than a regular Mic XLR to 3.5 mm.The regular XLR to 3.5 mm doesnt have this transformer which might work, but there is no guarantee because you dont know how your DSLR circuit is designed.
