[1st] The book has the right mix of technical information (such as an explanation why f/4 is not f/4 at a 1:1 magnification) and instructions on taking macro photographs. Easy read, excellent photographs. I would prefer to see more diagrams on staging photographs, but the text is clear enough. If you think the book is expensive think how much it would cost you to take a one hour lesson from Don. I have heard Don on the TWIP podcast and am glad he published the book.

[4.025 lb] Don's book is a fabulous description of Macro photography with detailed descriptions of How To, and marvelous examples of the Results. It is the Complete Guide for a wide range of subjects, and not confined to specific gear. While the book is not small and portable, it is detailed and thorough. And the quality of the photography and the printing thereof is exceptional. If you are serious about Macro I cannot imagine that you could be without this.

After searching on the internet and YouTube you will quickly realize Don Komarechka is the macro photography king! I really like the way he explains things and his passion for macro. I purchased his book and love it. The book is very well writing and Don provides super easy explanations of everything you need to develop your skills. [1st] Macro 101. Taught by an artist with all the nerdy science and light theories one needs. It reads like a classroom text in a good way. With the basics of macro explained. Then moved on from theory to real life set ups with explaining and then dives into the editing of these masterpieces. Macro is like a different language and this book is the translator. Have fun and get it !
