Q: 1. Do I need an audio box to power yamaha hs8 monitors?

A: The Yamaha HS8 are self powered monitor speakers. You would only need to input a line level audio signal via the available 1/4 or XLR connection on the rear panel.

A: Yes, I use these monitors connected to my LED TV. You will need the right cable to connect: RCA on one end and 1/4 on the other. I prefer real studio monitors like this for connecting to my TV over home theater speakers.

A: Yamaha HS8 are currently made in Indonesia.

Q: 4. Can any subwoofer be use with these monitors or only the HS8S?

A: The HS8S and HS5 integrate together very well; but most active subwoofers may be used with the Yamaha HS5 monitor speaker.

Q: 5. is Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor (Single, White)120 volt only?

A: The Yamaha HS5 available here at B&H is designed for use with 120 VAC only.

Q: 6. Do these need to be powered down when not in use?

A: Yes. That would be a best practice.

Q: 7. Can I get this bundle in the white variant? Not bothered about the woofer colour just the monitors . I know as singles they do come in a white though.

[Vertical] I upgraded to these from a krk 5” and wow. I was first surprised how big these 8” are. The sound is really good, clear highs and mids, the bass is clean and not overwhelming. Using these to mix live music 5

[Single Monitor] Finally upgraded from my 2004 KRK ROKIT 5's and couldn't be happier. Crisp high end and clear bass. Digital EQ and room pre-sets + integration with the KRK app should provide far better monitor tuning for my home studio. Totally worth the year long wait on backorder. 5

[Active 2-Way] My first step into the world of pro monitors and these things sound fantastic! I've mainly been mixing with my Sennheiser HD650s and these feel like a worthy counterpart for my sessions. Still getting acquainted to the nuances of these but the sound that comes out them is terrific. Great bass response and clean mids and highs. At this price point, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with these! 5

[111 dB] I wanted another set of monitors to use with an old set. My previous monitors are twenty plus years old, and I figure I'm tempting fate not having a backup set. They still sound great, but vintage monitors are not the same as vintage guitars... I'll be honest, I was planning on buying the Kali's since I never liked the old KRK monitors, but for some reason couldn't pull the trigger. After the Kali sale ended I found this set which included the Mackie Big Knob for free (that I was also going to buy anyway). I took a chance and ordered them. Shockingly I got them the next day even though I ordered them in the afternoon! I even had to check my invoice to make sure I didn't hit overnight by mistake, but it was standard ground shipping. The packing was excellent as well. That's not always my experience at B&H so kudos to them on that. The KRKs have a load of tweaking options but are easy to fine tune from the back. The sound is far better than any soundclip I heard while researching them. They're not premium studio monitors, but they are much closer than the price suggests. For me it's nice they are available in white since my old monitors are also white. KRK has definitely improved dramatically since I first tried them years ago. I hope they last as long as my old monitors. 5

[Active 2-Way] With the move to working from home, I needed to upgrade my desk set up. I use these monitors for amateur mixing and voice work, as well as listening to music, watching movies, and video calls. I wanted a relatively flat, accurate reproduction, and these fit the bill nicely. One thing to note: They go into standby mode after about 30 mins, and start back up very quickly. This is great, as you can just leave them on all the time. A nice touch of detail. 5
