System installers looking for a compact and scalable mic/line connectivity solution for the Q-SYSTM Ecosystem and other third-party AES67 networked audio, video and control (AV&C) systems? Check out the QSC Attero Tech Axon A4FLEX, an AES67 scalable mic/line connectivity interface with four mic/line inputs (two of which are software-configurable as outputs), USB, logic I/O, AES67 audio and control interfaces, and a two-channel power amplifier.

Additionally, the Axon A4FLEX is well suited to act as a standalone integration solution for huddle spaces, lecture halls, courtrooms, education, conference centers, or any network audio I/O endpoint for a networked AV&C system in a wide range of applications. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this interface work without drivers (class compliant) or does it require M-Audio drivers to operate?

A: The M-Audio M-Track Duo 2x2 USB Audio Interface is class-compliant for Macs and requires a downloadable driver for Windows.

Q: 2. Is this unit sufficient to use with the Shure SM7B?

A: Yes, you can use the EVO 4 with a Shure SM7B. There is sufficient gain for the mic with the built-in preamp. However, if you find that you require more volume from the mic for your application, you can add a Cloudlifter, FetHead or similar device between the mic and EVO 4 for additional gain.

Q: 3. is this class compliant?

A: The EVO4 will work on Mac, Windows and iOS. There are drivers to download.

Q: 4. I would like to know if this unit does its own mix minus. I intend to use it with a sound device 302 so no auxiliary sends are available.thanks

A: The JK Audio Auto Hybrid is a basic passive telephone interface. It features a line level input and output on XLR. It will need to be sent a mix-minus signal as there is no control on the unit itself.

Q: 5. Can phantom power be applied to the each input individually?

A: Phantom Power on the Audient EVO 4 will be applied to both channels.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Chrome operating system - Chrome Book?

A: The Audient EVO 4 is not compatible with Chrome OS.

Q: 7. Can I use this with a non-A&H mixer since it uses the Dante standard? If so, is there a way to control the preamp gain/+48v phantom power?

A: Yes, the Allen & Heath DT168 16x8 Dante/AES67 Audio I/O Expander can be used with Dante-enabled devices other than those made by Allen & Heath. Control of the preamp parameters on the DT168 can be done with a Mac or PC running A&H's DT Preamp Control software.

Q: 8. I have had this unit for a few years; loved it in the beginning, but then....people (on the other end) would have trouble hearing me. Maybe it's my phone line. I have it plugged in to my Mackie 1402- VLZ Pro mixer and I'm told that there's an echo (that mix minus thing..I'm guessing). What can I do to remedy that?

A: You can get a mix minus from an aux bus. Send the aux to the hybrid and pot up everything but the hybrid on that aux bus.

Q: 9. I would like to use this device to make engineering test measurements of signals on the POTS phone line (noise, distortion, frequency response, etc.). Are the audio signal levels on the XLR connectors the same as one would measure on the POTS line (w/o the DC of course)? And can both directions of two-way conversation be measured with this device?

A: This information is not documented. Please contact JK Audio directly to speak to one of their support engineers:JK AudioTel: 800-552-8346Email: info@jkaudio.comWebsite: http://www.jkaudio.com/

Q: 10. I'm looking for a way to input a voice message, which has been processed in iZotope software, onto a standard answering machine, with the goal of having a clean outgoing message. Is the JK Audio AutoHybrid interface the way to achieve this? If not, what device would do the job? Thanks....

A: This should work for your proposed application.

[1.8 lb / 830 g] Rode has always been a great equipment.

[1.8 lb / 830 g] The AI-1 integrated with my Mac set up seamlessly. Unlike some older devices (such as the FastTrack Pro I upgraded from), the AI-1 can be control with the Mac OS X audio controls on your keyboard. The headphone amplifier works really well and the mic/quarter inch input delivers really high quality sound for home music recordings (using Logic Pro), podcast recordings and more recently Zoom calls.

I don't like desk clutter and this device is about the size of an Apple TV and connects through one cable which I run through my external monitor. One issue that the upgrade to Mac OS X Catalina fixed was that I would have to unplug and plug back in the audio interface, so my computer didn't automatically use my external monitor's audio. However, that is no longer an issue.

Another small issue, that seemed to be fixed with the upgrade to Catalina, was that I would hear a very faint radio signal in my headphones, but it didn't impact my recordings at all.

Finally, I have this AI-1 connected to a pair of JBL monitor speakers through the balanced line outs on the back of the unit. The audio output is incredible.

If you're looking for a minimalist, high-quality USB audio interface, the AI-1 is an excellent choice.

[1.8 lb / 830 g] This audio interface is plug-and-play, without the need to install any flaky drivers (looking at you, gen 3 Focusrite Scarlett). It has high gain, low noise, and nice fit and finish. The only thing that would make it better is an additional input or two. Would recommend!

[2.365 lb] I know it sounds a bit weird, but the way that I use the audio interface and where it's placed had me wanting an audio interface with XLR inputs on the back of the unit. I originally bought a Scarlett 2i2, but returned it and got this instead. The smart gain is a nice touch, but I find myself manually adjusting gain anyways.

I wish it was a touch bit heavier, but hey, for the price, I enjoy it!

[2.365 lb] I bought the EVO 4 to use as an audio interface for Zoom calls. I saw some positive reviews on Youtube (i.e. Gerald Undone's) and the small size and clean design appealed to me.

It does exactly what I wanted - it's really easy to set up and use, provides phantom power, and sounds great. The Neat King Bee sounds incredible through this, fyi.

(Another reviewer said they ran into compatibility issues, but I've had no trouble with Zoom, Discord, and Davinci Resolve)

[2.365 lb] I was nervous about purchasing this unit because of many online reviews indicating USB connectivity issues. However, these have been resolved with a firmware update. I got a deal on 2 of these elsewhere and have been very satisfied. The headphone amp and very low-noise preamp are really great for the price.

[1.8 lb / 830 g] I bought this as part of building a podcasting setup. Super easy to use, and very nice build quality. The pre-amp is very clean. I've got a Shure SM7B plugged into it, and regularly turn the gain all the way up with no discernible noise.
