Sometimes playing game when the phone gets hot drops frame. Coming from a Z Fold 3 & S10e they get hotter but rarely dropped frames.

I've been Galaxy user since Note 5 and always loved S-Pen experience. My last Galaxy phone was the Z Fold 3 and I loved the experience & technology. But after a year of usage the inner screen it started showing dead circle pixel and the warranty already expired. After spending almost 2k on the phone that didn't last a year I didn't really wanted to spend more then 1K on a phone. Then saw this deal on XPERIA 5 IV For $800 and went ahead & tried it. So far loving it.

[1x Front-Facing] This isn't a definitive smartphone review, there are far more qualified people on YouTube and the like that have covered this phone ad nauseam. For a simple consumer though that doesn't game on his phone, and one that's coming from a smartphone camera that was the Razer Phone 2 (which was objectively a bad camera) this phone is an improvement in every sense of the word. Much smaller, better battery life, faster. Everything I'm saying is objective, if you're coming from the Xperia 5 III, it may not feel like much of an upgrade, but if your phone is older, and your looking for a phone that actually fits in your pocket, maybe you're looking for a phone that isn't made by Samsung or Apple, this phone gets a lot right. It incredibly has an Aux port for wired headphones, wireless charging, a MicroSD card slot. To me, this phone checks off more boxes that most other new phones available. If you can stomach the $998 price tag of course. I mean, it's cheaper than the Xperia 1 IV. If the price turns you off, The Pixel 7/7 Pro exist, though the 7 Pro isn't small, and the Asus Zenfone 9 is great, but the plastic back doesn't evoke flagship to me. Point is, this phone checks off too many boxes to ignore.

[128 GB] My (old) Xperia XZ1 Compact is starting to show its age and not sending all my texts. I thought it's time to get a replacement upgrade and the Xperia 5 III is an out of this world improvement. It's fast, an updated Android, robust camera mechanism, and a 120hz screen - although I don't enable this feature even if I'm watching videos.

B&H Photo packed my order neatly and my parcel didn't even take 2 weeks (destination: Toronto) for it to arrive; I'm so happy and satisfied. I would do business with this establishment again.

[Android 12] I bought this phone bundled with the Sony 1000xm3 Bluetooth earbuds and call of duty mobile points. I love almost every aspect of this phone but most of all the form factor. Every person I've shown it to loves the fit of it in their hand. Look online for Sony's officially marketed case. It has a nice premium feel to it and makes the phone more grippyer and protects the lenses really well. I love the ear buds but you need to mess with the settings a bit to get them to work without getting bombarded by sound adaption notifications. If you have Verizon like I do you may have trouble recieving txts but I fixed the issue relatively easily by talking with them about activating CDMA-less for your device. I hope to continue using this phone for a very long time. It's a win for me

[2520 x 1080] Great phone. Stock UI. Little bloatware. Fixed the battery issues from previous generations. One of the best screens. Only downside is the camera.

[0.56 lb] It's the most compact Android that is physical dual sim/sd card that works with Verizon, and works with c band. Fingerprint is way better than it was on the 5 III. I don't even use the camera much, I just wanted the form factor and as a result of such, I've been using Sony phones since the z5 compact. The screen is great. Yes, it gets warm, but I believe the updates have made it better?? It could just be because the ambient temperature is getting cooler outside by the day too? I use it to do food delivery and the screen is always on and running multiple apps. I have no big deal breaking complaints. Side note- gps signal is more accurate than on my pixel 6a. Signal strength is on par with most phones, it may be a few less db, but I haven't lost service anywhere. If I never did, I'd just switch to my other sim! Love Sony!

[2520 x 1080] This is a (nearly) perfect phone for me because it has 3 things:
1) 3.5mm Headphone jack
2) 16mm, 24mm, and 60mm (12MP) equivalent lenses (w/ high-end Sony quality video and camera app! RAW, 4K, Advanced DSLR-like features, etc.)
3) USB-C (USB 3.1) with support for workstation docking (keyboard/video/mouse)


Other niceties include:
- Wireless Qi charging
- IP56/IP68 dust/water resistance
- Bright and colorful OLED screen
- 120hz screen refresh rate (buttery smooth!)
- Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC (8 cores) w/ 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage
- 2 nanoSIM slots and 1 microSD card slot (supports upto 1TB)
- Snappy biometric (fingerprint) unlock

- 5G phone network (with 4G/LTE, 3G, and 2G)
- WiFi6E network support (yes, it does the new 6Ghz band, too!)
- 5000 mAh battery!
- Dedicated shutter release button (with half-press focus lock, like a camera!)
- WiFi texting via the standard Google Messages app, but...



Unfortunately, there are 2 things about it that I was disappointed to discover:


1) No WiFi calling. From what I've read on the Internet, this is actually the fault of the carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, et al.), but Sony seems to get the blame. It's not a deal breaker for me, but for some folks who make a lot of phone calls and don't have good cell tower coverage, this could really make life tough.


2) Thermal management really is mediocre. Or rather, this phone does get warm from time to time. While I don't play games on my phone, I have noticed that using the video recording and the phone app extensively will get this phone rather warm. Otherwise, it is a normal temperature.

[5.2 + LE] I'm really enjoying this phone. It's a great form factor and has the legacy touches that I miss on new phones such as the notification light, not under the screen finger print reader, and dedicated camera button. The additional storage option and headphone jack are nice touches, but not something I need. The phone is snappy and is not overly bloated with junkware. The camera takes very nice pictures and quite adjustable, although I wish the basic camera point-and-shoot was up to standards of others; still very good though. I haven't had the overheating problems that others speak of and during normal use and casual gaming, I don't notice any heat at all. The camera warnings do make it clear that it's a possibility. This phone stands out from the rest of the pack and I have no real complaints.

[Android 12] Love the size, feel and quality.
