[16-Bit ] I’ve been using these bad boys all summer for small to medium sized gigs, and I have to say I’m impressed. Really open and balanced sound with minimal bleed. Genre permitting, I crank them through the PA for thunderous fills no problem, minimal EQ required and never chasing down feedback. They’re predictable, work with every genre, and can manage to squeeze their way into the most cramped setups. I don’t usually write reviews, but if you’re a live guy and need to fill up their mic locker, do not scoff at the brand or be skeptical at the price. Buy 6, put your company logo over ‘em, and call it a day. I can’t say how they fair under the critical ear of the studio environment, but in the live world I’ve gotten comments all summer such as “wow, those Shure/Earthworks sound great”.

[Mono] We use this in our high-ceiling, 100 year-old church/worship hall that can be a difficult room to obtain optimal sound reinforcement. This mic replaced our much older Shure model that was only about 12 and the results are night and day. The 18 Shure really grabs the voice and channels it better than I expected. One of the reasons is that the extra length puts the mic closer to the reader's mouth (It also comes with a mounting base that you can drill/bolt onto a podium at the ideal spot for you). It is an excellent choice for having various readers each church mass, because there's no need to constantly adjust the sound. Even when readers forget to move the mic in the direction of their mouth (for excessively tall or short people) the mic still picks up beautifully. On that topic, when moving the mic, there is no noise picked up, so you can position it silently with no problem and without the need to mute the channel. Our sound system consists of a pair QSC KW 122s and now a 2nd pair of QSC K10's, routed through a DBX 231 eq and a Mackie ProFX 12 mixer with phantom power, which this mic requires. Pretty basic stuff, but highly effective at pushing sound for about 125-150 people. The reason I mention our system is that this mic will surely perform differently in different rooms.The only drawback is that depending on your speaker placement and what other mics you are using in the room (lavalieres for example), you may experience some feedback at higher levels because it really picks up a lot. So, with some care and consideration about such things, you can try to reduce or eliminate the other channels/sound going into this mic and creating a feedback loop. This mic's technology seems to be far superior to the older model, so it does a cleaner job of grabbing what you want and not what you don't. I highly recommend it, especially for churches or podium situations.

[Black] The Auray MSGN-6 Desktop Gooseneck Mic Stand is great for desktop use, or any other flat, stable surface of any finish. It also has a die cast heavy base and features padding under so it won’t scratch your furniture.

Upon unboxing and setting it up for the first time (most people don’t know) the gooseneck piece, as you try to bent it for the first time, especially the super short ones, this one being just 6”, you will hear a cracking noise as you bend it. It’s almost like a chiropractor adjusting your spine...This is normal and only happens ONCE. After that, you can adjust it to any position and silently.

The gooseneck top accepts anything 3/8” you might want to install. Can be any other mic holder you like, other than the included mic holder to accommodate a variety of mics, wide and narrow such as USB mics, any mic, including short shot gun mics, or even a digital recorder or whatever else that is no heavier than a standard mic that has a 3/8 thread or mount.

Another great thing about it, when you screw in the gooseneck piece and the mic holder that comes with it, it stops threading exactly where it should. Perfectly aligned and straight, not slightly off sideways, ready for the mic.

What else could I say? It’s an all metal piece, holds your mic well, its flexible, adjustable and doesn’t take a lot of space on your desk.

This fixed a problem that the user was having. They had to leave their desk to have an off the record meeting, so I introduced this mic with the on off button and has change their world.

On a side note this mic has a usb connector on the back of it and you can power it that way and skip the two AA batteries. This should be listed in the description this is a selling point.

[1.535 lb] Incredible cost-benefit ! Could buy it over and over. Really happy with the sound of it. I use it mainly for talkback with my boom operator during audiovisual kinds of project. I Highly recomend it!

[1.535 lb] I think this mic stand is fantastic because it doesn't take up much space and the base is heavy enough that you don't have to worry about it falling over.


Also, if you need to travel with it, it easily comes apart as shown in the picture.


At the time of writing this review, this cost $16. That's a great value for what it is!

[Cardioid] This lectern mic has exactly the features we were looking for at our church: thin neck, solid base, flexible neck parts, and on/off button with status light. The sound quality and the sensitivity are very good at a reasonable price. Success!
