The 512-BBA's steel construction provides stability while supporting a studio or broadcast mic weighing up to 3 lb (including a clip/mount).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Before I place my order, can you tell me what additional accessories will I need to get started (aside from the computer)? Cables? Shock mount? Thanks!

A: The Audio-Technica Voice Actor Starter Kit ships with everything necessary to get started recording. The AT2035 mic ships with shockmount, and XLR cable for connection of mic to the interface is included as well.

Q: 2. Does this come with a USB cable so i can record to my computer?

A: The Tascam US-600 audio interface included in this kit will ship with a USB cable that will enable you to connect the unit to your computer.

Q: 3. What is the thread size? What is the depth of of the female thread?

A: The only female thread on this item is that of the screw-down mechanism (thumb screw) mentioned in the overview and clearly pictured. Those threads are M6x1.0 and about 17mm deep. They extend to the large central hole at the center of the cylinder but the end of the thumb screw does not bear directly against the boom arm. It instead bears against a plastic liner pressed into that central hole which prevents scratching the finish of the boom arm.

Q: 4. What is the diameter of the pin that slots into the clamping base?

A: The manufacturer has not specified diameter of the stem that fits into the C-clamp base for the 512 AUDIO 512-BBA Microphone Boom Arm.

Q: 5. Is it side address or top?

A: Designed for critical home/project/professional studio applications and live performance, this side-address cardioid studio condenser delivers exceptional detail and low noise. Equipped with a switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10 dB pad, the AT2035 handles high sound pressure levels with ease. Along with its rugged construction and high-performance specifications, the AT2035 provides an exceptional level of consistency from model to model. It comes equipped with a protective pouch and a custom shock mount.

Q: 6. IS there a deeper clamp available for desks with a beveled edge?

A: The O.C. White Ultima 4-Way Modular Clamp Assembly for Ultima ULP Microphone Boom (B&H # OCULPCLAMP) looks like it is deeper and heavier than the Samson clamp. The inside diameter of the hole on the O.C. White clamp is 17mm. Here is a link for the manufacturer's info page: https://www.ocwhite.com/product/ultima-ulp-clamp/

Q: 7. Can I use two K&M 21105 counterweights on the same boom arm? Is there a hole at both ends to allow for this?

A: yes. I am using 2 on one arm. and there is another trick. if your arms are just a bit thick, you can pop out the plastic liner. I like these, it's hard to find good counterweights these days.

Q: 8. Does this include the ATH-M20 Headphones?

A: No, the headline description of the kit is wrong, but the product list farther down is right. It ships with Polsen headphones. They're listed on the current set up as Polsen HPC-A30 Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones.

Q: 9. Regarding the 48" Boom Arm. Is each section or arm 48" long or is that the total length?

A: The total length of the MBA48 boom arm is 48".

Q: 10. It says Good for Voice Actors . Is it NOT as good for recording professional music?

A: Voice Acting or V/O (voice-over) work are just a few applications suited for this set-up. Musical applications are appropriate as well.

This is a solid boom arm, smooth but a little hard to position due to the strength of the tensioners in the arm. It has made a difference in my recordings with the internal springs which provide a quiet and noise free set-up.

The 512 AUDIO 512-BBA Microphone Boom Arm is a solid Mic boom arm that can handle a pretty heavy Microphone at a good price.
It will definitely do the job for me.

Arm is light but very sturdy. Clamps onto desk well, no exposed springs, arm joints are very tight and hold mic still - mic does not move without being intentionally moved or accidentally bumped. Great arm, especially for the sale price

Got this Boom Arm bundled with my ElectroVoice RE-20 mic. I was a bit skeptic the boom arm would hold the heavy RE-20. Upon inspection I realized all the critical parts are metal. I clamped it to my hefty recovered wood desk from behind. Been using it for a while now and it's going strong. Granted, I don't move the RE-20 much but it has no wobble and it looks great on camera for my video work conferences. Folks have made specific comments specifically on the arm. I really like it!

I used this desk stand for my Samsung Q9u which is on the heavier side for a mic. It worked perfectly and it was easy to set up (I'm new to podcasting). It moves silently, smoothly and stays firmly in place; it's just perfect!
