The NiSi 52mm Black Mist Filter 1/8 for Cinematic Photographyfrom NiSi 52mm Black Mist Filter 1/8 for Cinematic Photographyis a classic style diffusion filter for lenses with a 52mm filter thread. Inspired by the popular cinema range "Allure Mist Black" and recreated as a circular filter. Compatible with both still imaging or video, a Black Mist filter lowers contrast by suppressing and diffusing highlights and lifting shadows to help balance the tonal range of the image. It creates a cinematic look and is also commonly used to soften wrinkles, blemishes and creates a flattering image of a subject. The effect is most effective when capturing light that diffuses softly when backlit, creating a transparent light that looks like it was taken with a high-quality vintage lens.

This filter is constructed from optical glass and is available in diffusion grades of 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2; the diffusion effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase.

Each optical glass surface features NiSi's Nano coating for an improved beading effect when in contact with water, oil, or grease for greater cleaning efficiency. Constructed with a high-quality brass frame for enhanced durability and jamming prevention.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work well with achieving the sunray effect during sunrise/sunset? Will this filter effect the look of the image in any other way?

A: This will not help with the sunray effect at sunrise or sunset. It will give more of a twinkle/pointed star effect of the sun or any other prominent light sources, such as the example shown with the street lamps.

Q: 2. Is there a trick to getting the 52 mm Canon Protect Filter off of the holder? I am having a hard time removing it so I can put another filter on the holder. Thanks!

A: You have to wiggle it gently and unscrew. If that doesn't work and you have some plastic filter wrenches, try those. Alternatively, if you have a vise grip put some spongy tape on it and gently tighten and unscrew the filter.

Q: 3. Will this filter work on a Nikon 24-70 mm f2.8 lens?

A: No it will not.. 24-70 2.8 needs a 77mm filter.

Q: 4. I own the new Nikon P900 camera. I want a filter to protect the lens. Which filter works better to protect the lens, a clear glass filter or a UV filter?

A: In the days when Film was the only medium, the UV filter was definitely the way to go. With digital, most seem to prefer the clear glass filter. I own both (a hold-over from the days of film) and for the most part, I use the Nikon Clear Glass Filter on all my lens on my Digital SLRs. I'm still using UV on my Nikon F-100 for the shorter lenses, Skylight for longer ones. Hope this helps.

Q: 5. Is the 58mm filter the right one for a 70-300mm 4.5-6.3 DX Nikkor lens?

A: Yes, it is the right one

Q: 6. Will this lens work on my Nikon D90. I have one lens that is 18-105mm and another at 70-300mm

A: No, this is not the proper sized filter for these two lenses. The Nikon 18-105mm lens uses 67mm sized filter, and depending on which 70-300mm lens you have it could be either a 62mm size or 67mm sized filter. If you have the lens cap for the 70-300mm lens, simply remove it, and look on the underneath side of the lens and it will state filter size. Below are two links, the first is for 67mm sized filter recommendation, the second is for a 62mm sized for you to regard on our site:http://bhpho.to/1gI9JCAhttp://bhpho.to/ISN5vR

Q: 7. which filter for 18-140mm f3.5?

A: If you don't know the answer, check the flip side of your lens cap, you will find the answer. This applies to every lens.

Q: 8. Does this fit the Canon EF 400mm f 2.8 lens?

A: No, the Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS will only adapt to two drop in system. Please review the following items Canon Drop-In Screw Filter Holder 52 (WIII) with Protect Filter BH #CA52WIIIF • MFR #3049C001 https://bhpho.to/3gv17ZL

Q: 9. Does this fit on the front end of Nikon's 200-400mm f/4 lens?

A: Yes. I have this on my 200-400.

Q: 10. This Nikon 77mm Clear NC Glass Filter, Is it exactly the same the Nikon NC 77mm MADE IN JAPAN ( the case is Nikon CP-15 77mm , the number on the plastic box are UPC 0--------4827 JAN4----------8564 NC 77mm NEUTRAL COLOR NC FILTER ) ? Thank for your reply.

A: Yes. Nikon only manufactures one Nikon 77mm Clear NC Glass Filter, which uses Nikon's MFR # 2482 and is manufactured in Japan.

[0.18 lb] It's practically the same as the Tiffen one but costs a lot less. It's worth grabbing. The 1/8 is subtle so it's great with coroporate gigs.
