  • ADAM Audio HPS (high-frequency propagation system) waveguide technology enables tweeters to disperse sound with controlled consistency, broad in the horizontal axis but tightly focused on the vertical plane. The A Series introduces a rotatable HPS waveguide design. You can shift A Series tweeters in 90-degree steps to continue to benefit from HPS waveguide technology, whether you position the speakers horizontally or vertically.
  • The A Series HPS Waveguide is made from a new glass-fiber polymer compound that helps create a clear sound, free of unwanted resonance. The ADAM Audio X-ART tweeter is at the heart of the rotatable HPS waveguide. Handmade in Germany, the X-ART tweeter provides a precise transient response and reproduces the finest sonic details. This X-ART tweeter is used in every A Series speaker, providing a detailed and consistent sound across the product line.

A Series woofers are constructed with a unique blend of mineral stone fibers that have been baked together to create a lightweight but highly stable material. The mineral composition, layering, and geometry of each cone is specific to the driver used in each model. By combining this material with a new magnet system, A Series woofers produce high output with low distortion, delivering a clean low-end.

Adapted from the ADAM Audio DCH midrange driver used by the S Series speakers, the A Series midrange driver delivers a clean sound in a critical part of the frequency range, where humans are especially sensitive to coloration of sound. Using a dedicated driver for the midrange helps clarify lows and highs by eliminating the need for woofers to reproduce midrange frequencies, and so it reduces distortion.

  • The A Series combines the best of both digital and analogue worlds. The woofers are driven by Class-D amplifiers that help produce linear performance while reducing distortion. These amplifiers were chosen specifically for their power and efficiency, in terms of both energy consumption and sound reproduction. Low thermal dissipation allows for a smaller heat sink, which facilitated additional investment in the exceptional power and performance of the A Series.
  • Tweeters and midrange drivers are powered by¿Class-AB amplifiers, which offer smooth and natural reproduction of high frequencies. Each amplifier is optimized for its working range, resulting in a fine-tuned, properly aligned speaker. To reach this point, ADAM Audio carried out extensive measurements and listening sessions, trialing countless amplifiers and amplifier components.

The A Series capitalizes on the transformative power of DSP-based electronics to provide greater tuning precision and better predictability than analog-only speakers. With firmware that can be updated through an Ethernet connection, over time you can expect to integrate the latest DSP-based capabilities from ADAM Audio-including new filter types and features, plus alternative voicings.¿

On the back panel of A Series speakers, you will find four bands of room-adaptation equalization: Bass, Desk, Presence, and Treble. Each band is adjustable in predefined steps, offering more than 100 tuning options to help compensate for the typical acoustic problems that arise from speaker placement.¿¿

  • A Voicing is a predefined sound profile of the A Series monitors. On the back panel, you will find two different selections, UNR and Pure. Here you will also find the Ext option, which is dedicated to the extended functionality that comes with A Control via the Ethernet connection.
  • UNR or Uniform Natural Response is a dynamic and natural-sounding response curve of ADAM Audio’s own design, which stems from a variety of iconic ADAM Audio legacy products, including the preceding AX Series. It lends itself to production, composition, and song writing, as its engaging and present sound can give you more room for creativity and flow. It is a great option whenever you want to use your speakers simply to enjoy some good music.
  • Pure is a highly accurate and neutral sounding option. This is the flat setting, ideal for mixing and mastering, where you must be aware of all the details and rely on an honest representation from your speakers.
  • The Ext option is dedicated to the extended functionality that comes with A Control (real-time remote control) via the Ethernet connection. Using A Control’s six-band EQ, a custom voicing can be created and pushed to the monitor.

  • The DSP-based functionality of all A Series monitors can be controlled remotely and in real time over Ethernet using the free-to-download A Control software. A Control is available to download for Windows and MacOS in the MyADAM area of www.adam-audio.com, for customers who have registered their A Series monitors.¿
  • Once downloaded and installed, you can control multiple speakers at once, precisely adjusting equalization and delay settings from various listening positions in your studio space. While you work, you can remotely control monitor levels if you’re far from a fader or physical interface. Remote-control capabilities are particularly useful in multipurpose rooms, allowing you to make sure that voicing, EQ, and other settings are all exactly how you want them.

A Series speakers are designed to be adaptable to changing requirements, preferences, and environments. Using the A Control software, you can push advanced filters directly to an embedded platform onboard the monitors to help compensate for imperfect room acoustics. This embedded platform supports filters from the industry leading third-party, Sonarworks. Using Sonarworks software and a measurement mic, you can calibrate your speakers for a new room or per shifting taste.

The new A Series cabinets build on the heritage of ADAM Audio and the AX Series. In an evolutionary design, A Series cabinets have deeper beveling to further reduce diffraction. Thicker baffle walls strengthen the cabinets and reduce internal vibrations, while a flared port design optimizes airflow and reduces port noise. All A Series speakers include an underside mounting interface, giving you the flexibility to mount them wherever you need them.¿

Q: 1. Can i use with focusrite scarlett solo interface?

A: The speakers have a standard RCA stereo line input and are self-powered. So, they will work with anything that can provide a line output. That would include the focusrite scarlett solo.

Q: 2. Could i use these with a tv?

A: Hi Noel R,Depending on what your goal is. We have a large screen TV and we connect a laptop to the TV and then the speakers to the laptop and it raises the volume of the TV. On the back of our TV there are many outlets to connect to other things, I am guessing that one of them would connect the speakers directly to the TV. I'm not TV savvy enough to know which one. Hope this helps, Gaelin

Q: 3. I'm thinking of using this for a D&O light box, the 180W, and I need to tilt the box downward slightly more than its yoke allows. Does the top section of the stand tilt, or will I need a tilting connection or section?

A: The top riser of the stand does not tilt. To add this range of motion, you may place the Kupo EZ Grip Finger with Baby 5/8" Stud and Receiver, BH # KUKG300612 on the top of the C-stand: https://bhpho.to/3pp0csc

[96 kHz / 24-Bit] Absolutely amazing bang for the buck. I needed something exactly in this price range to replace my old JBL LSR series 8” monitors.  Although not on display in the store, I found listening to other monitors very useful to get an idea of similarly priced Genelecs and would still  recommend anyone take a trip in to hear everything in the B&H display room.  My work space is certainly not acoustically perfect, though I try.  Out-of-the-box they sound amazingly clean and accurate even before any calibration I will still do.  Slightly more affordable than the Genelec and Neumann  I am very very happy with this purchase, having gone only on reviews and specs without hearing them first.  At bit of a leap of faith, I trusted Adam knew what they were doing and they did!

[36 lb] A music producer I know recommended Adam A7x7's for my home recording studio. I had been using the classic Yamaha NS 10M studio monitors and always thought they were awful ( even though I knew if I could make something sound good on them, it would sound good on any speakers). I also did a lot of comparative research, which also convinced me to go for the Adam AX7x7s. Glad I went with them. They are great and I couldn't be happier.

[Black] I used to install mid to high end home theater and whole house audio in my college days. I've been exposed to good sound, but can't say I'm an expert like someone devoted to that alone. To my ear, these speakers sound great. Depending on the music or whatever, they move serious amounts of air and are totally clear while they do. I have them set to half volume, at the detent and use my new UR44 audio interface for volume control. I can only handle about 3/4 of max volume, but even at that volume they still sound wonderful. These are 150W each, and I've seen speakers that are twice that much power. I assume they're made for bigger spaces and not just a couple of feet from your head because I can't imagine how loud those could get! And I like loud! 150W is enough, to be sure. The footprint was bigger than I expected. I probably should have laid it out ahead of time. My family freaked out a bit in astonishment. I had to clear of my desk and get a little table setup as a return to my left to put books and papers on, as there is now no room for anything else on my desk. Time for a new desk anyway. I have them sitting on the medium sized Auray pads and they're a good fit, I suppose. A little larger in each dimension than necessary. If I can find a bandsaw, I may cut them down a bit. But I think the small ones would have been too small. Anyway, great speakers.

[MDF] I use these with a Velodyne MiniVee sub. Stereo soundstage is superb and sweet spot is plenty wide and tall. These were an upgrade from a pair of smaller 5.5 monitors. If you can fit these, get them over a smaller speaker. They are not too large for a small studio or home office. Lift them off the work surface with hardwood boxes or stands (I prefer a wood surface with thick foam sticky pads).

[Horizontal] I had some experience with the earlier generation Adam A7. The new A7X model features some very nice improvements. Where the old A7 seemed to be a little subdued in the 40hz range, the A7X goes down to 40 without difficulty and shows signs of audio as low as 28-30hz. It is hard to beat the ribbon tweeters for clarity and stereo imaging. While I do tracking in a pro studio, I purchased a pair of A7Xs for my home setup where I can do editing and basic automation. I am tempted to take these speakers into the pro studio and try some detailed mixing. They are portable and just the right size for me.

[MDF] As with all of the speakers in the AX line, the clarity in the midrange and the treble must be heard to be believed. Really amazing bass, too (truth be told, almost too much bass for my small room, but easily corrected with DSP). I listened to their smaller siblings (A5X) in the B&H store and knew I wanted a speaker in the AX line. Great service and support from B&H, as always.
