This 36mm Round, Unmounted Baader CMOS-Optimized UV/IR Bandpass L Filter from Alpine Astronomical reflects harmful thermal radiation in the infrared spectral range and provides 98% transmission over the entire visible spectrum from 420-685nm. It also prevents blurred star imaging with red-sensitive digital and CCD/CMOS cameras. It features a Reflex-Blocker hard coating, which has been planeoptically polished, and has Life-Coat sealed coating edges. It is equally suitable for modern CMOS sensors as well as for older CCD camera technologies.

  • Reflex-Blocker coatings offer largest ever freedom from halos, even under most adverse conditions concerning aux-optics
  • Provides increased contrast
  • Identical filter thickness to existing standards (2mm), with utmost care for parfocality
  • FWHM on each filter category carefully designed to allow for 1:1:1 exposures, matched for typical CMOS quantum efficiency and S/N ratio
  • Blackened edges all around, with filter-lead side-indicator in the form of a black frontside outer rim, to additionally eliminate any reflection due to light falling onto the edge of a filter
  • Each filter coated individually, with sealed coating edge (not cut from a larger plate with coatings left exposed)
  • Life-Coat evermore hard coatings enable a non-aging coating for life, even in the most adverse environments

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this with the nikon Z 24-70 F4? The nikon website lists diameter as 77.5.

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens has a filter thread of 72mm. If you want to attach the filter directly to the lens with an adapter, you would want to get his option instead: https://bit.ly/3ujiIec

Q: 2. I bought this for the ring of fire eclipe. My question is why are my pics black and white? Glasses were orange and black. Bad se

A: It is normal for the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter and other similar filters to produce nearly monochrome images due to the density of the filter combined with the sun's brightness. Please check the reviews of other solar filters or this same filter in other sizes and you will see mostly monochrome or near monochrome photos.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with the RED Komodo-X?

A: Yes, the Kolari Vision Magnetic Clip-In Filter for RED KOMODO (UV/IR Cut Hot Mirror) is compatible with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO-X 6K Digital Cinema Camera.

Q: 4. Can it be used on NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens ?

A: Yes the B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter (46mm) is compatible with the Nikon 800mm f6.3 Z lens.

Q: 5. does this filter help in astrophotography if the camera is not modified?

A: The Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut H-Alpha Pass Magnetic Clip-in Filter is not recommended for use in an unmodified camera.

Q: 6. Does the filter come with a case?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (95mm, 16.5-Stop) comes with a case.

Q: 7. What color will the sun be orange or white ? The sample photos show both.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) will provide the most color-neutral results. The saturation of the color is based on post image editing and/or the brightness of the sun.

Q: 8. If this filter is NOT safe for direct eye viewing, why should I believe it IS safe for a camera's sensor? Please convince me.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (16.5-Stop) is safe for camera sensors when used carefully and following the instructions. The sensitivities of eyes and sensors are different and what is good for one may not be good for the other. This filter has been used on cameras without causing any sensor damage.

Q: 9. does this work with the eos r?

A: The Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut H-Alpha Pass Magnetic Clip-in Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is compatible with the Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 10. Is this filter compliant with ISO 12312-2 (the international safety standard for filters for direct viewing of the Sun)?

A: ISO 12312-2:2015 is the standard for direct viewing of the sun; the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) specifically states that "This filter is not appropriate for direct solar observation with the naked eye, and should exclusively be used for photographic purposes." This filter is not rated for direct viewing of the sun.

[0.14 lb] The BMPCC 4k's color is a little off because of IR, this fixes it to make it PERFECT.

[3 x 3 x 0.95"] If you have a BMPCC 4K camera, you will need a UV and IR cut filter, the 77mm fits, but the 82mm does not.

[3 x 3 x 0.95"] This cuts down IR pollution really well. It causes no color shift, especially when you're ND stacking on your lens. It's a tad bit pricey, but it's well worth the money.

[0.14 lb] There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.

[2 mm] I live in heavily light polluted skies, yet I can go out in the backyard and look up at the billowing clouds of the milky way. I can actually see meteorite showers when they are happening. This is all possible by using this filter in conjunction with a Gen3 night vision device. This filter blocks out all light below 685nm which is basically all the man made light pollution leaving mostly celestial light for your enjoyment. This does cut out hydrogen alpha light, so you will not be seeing nebulae with this, but a separate band pass filter is used for that purpose.
