This 65 x 65mm Square, Unmounted Baader CMOS-Optimized UV/IR Bandpass L Filter from Alpine Astronomical reflects harmful thermal radiation in the infrared spectral range and provides 98% transmission over the entire visible spectrum from 420-685nm. It also prevents blurred star imaging with red-sensitive digital and CCD/CMOS cameras. It features a Reflex-Blocker hard coating, which has been planeoptically polished, and has Life-Coat sealed coating edges. It is equally suitable for modern CMOS sensors as well as for older CCD camera technologies.

[2 mm] There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself. 5

[0.185 lb] I got this filter because my results on my Canon 400mm 5.6 with a Hoya HMC 77 UV(O) were drab. With this new filter I have brilliant color and contrast and can enjoy vivid pictures. I am happy with this purchase. 5

[0.185 lb] If you have a BMPCC 4K camera, you will need a UV and IR cut filter, the 77mm fits, but the 82mm does not. 5

[2 mm] This is not a filter to have just for fun. First of all it requires you to have a Full spectrum conversion on your camera. Second of all it is for a very specific use and its price is no joke, so if you don't need it I would spend my money on something else I would use more. But in my case it's been a blast. I will use a lot more my converted camera now that I have it, and just getting started with experimenting out of the users manual I have a lot of ideas to work on with this filter. The filter only lets through UV light so exposure compensation is required and even under bright sun you will more than likely shoot on a tripod, with high ISO using slow shutter speeds. This filter is a tool, not a toy. 5

[0.185 lb] I live in heavily light polluted skies, yet I can go out in the backyard and look up at the billowing clouds of the milky way. I can actually see meteorite showers when they are happening. This is all possible by using this filter in conjunction with a Gen3 night vision device. This filter blocks out all light below 685nm which is basically all the man made light pollution leaving mostly celestial light for your enjoyment. This does cut out hydrogen alpha light, so you will not be seeing nebulae with this, but a separate band pass filter is used for that purpose. 5

[0.185 lb] Its almost magic. Se what your eyes can't see. Thats what this filter does in a full conversion camera, a tripod and a photographer capable of working with tools that are not for everyone. But if you pay what it costs and wait for it to be back ordered you are more than likely a committed photographer already. The filter can be used in a lot of scientific uses but I got it once I converted a full frame DSLR with still a lot of life ahead to full spectrum and got a very large set of filters to get the most of it shooting infrared and UV photography. So far it's been a great way to open new possibilities on creative photographic exploration. 5
