Featuring an aluminum frame with small built-in magnets, the 665nm Kolari Vision Infrared Magnetic Clip-In Filter Canon RF (665nm)from Kolari Vision Infrared Magnetic Clip-In Filter Canon RF (665nm)secures magnetically to the camera mount, and your lens then mounts on top. The filter sits securely between the camera and lens. It's compatible with the Canon EOS R, R5, R6, and RP. Specifically for the Canon RP camera, a mag mount accessory is included. The Canon RP doesn't have the steel elements necessary to support magnetic attachment of this filter. The mag mount has adhesive strips that provide a solution.

This 665nm version requires a full spectrum modification to be made to your camera in order to function properly. This entails manually removing the camera's low-pass filter and replacing it with a clear filter. Once that's done, this 665nm filter will work as intended to block visible light up to 665nm from the light spectrum. (Kolari Vision can make the modification for you at a cost if you send in your camera to them.)

The filter material of the clip-in filter is glass. A small removal tool is included but not required. The compact tool looks like a guitar pick and is included just in case, as the filter can easily be removed by hand.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I own a Nikon D5500, which I understand does not have an optical low-pass filter. The product description for this filter indicates the camera requires a "conversion" to eliminate the low-pass filter. My question: will this filter work as intended without the "conversion" for the D5500? Thanks. Frank

A: No, to use the Kolari Vision Infrared Lens Filter (52mm, 590nm) the camera sensor in the D5500 needs to be modified. It will not work correctly with that.

Q: 2. Is this clip in filter 12nm or 7nm?

A: The only information Kolari Visions lists on the Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut H-Alpha Pass Magnetic Clip-in Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is, https://bit.ly/3GUpzNi .

Q: 3. Will this work on a red Komodo?

A: The Kolari Vision Mist Diffusion 1/8 Magnetic Clip-In Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras has not been tested with the Red Komodo. But we do not see why it would not fit. So there is a good chance it will work.

Q: 4. Will this item work with the Canon R5C?

A: The Kolari Vision Mist Diffusion 1/4 Magnetic Clip-In Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is compatible with the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera.

Q: 5. will it fit on r3?

A: Yes, the Kolari Vision Magnetic Clip-In ND Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras (3-Stop) will fit on the R3 as well as on the other Canon bodies mentioned below: Canon EOS R Canon EOS R10 Canon EOS R3 Canon EOS R5 Canon EOS R6 Canon EOS R6 Mark II Canon EOS R7 Canon EOS R8 Canon EOS RP Kolari Vision EOS RP

Q: 6. Can this IR filter be used with Rollei Infrared 400 Black and White Negative Film? Is an approximate filter factor available?

A: The Kolari Vision 100 x 100mm Infrared Pro Filter (720nm) can be used with Rollei Infrared 400 Black and White Negative Film. This should have a filter factor of 1 when used with IR film or a sensor modified for IR. The 720nm filter works out to having about as much IR light available as a normal camera has visible light, the easiest to expose for.

Q: 7. Does this fit the RF 10-20mm f/4?

A: The Kolari Vision Magnetic Clip-In ND Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras (10-Stop) fits in the camera and is not affected by the lens choice.

Q: 8. Does this work with a Canon R5 and a Canon Drop-In filter mount adapter EF-EOS R?

A: Yes, the Kolari Vision Light Pollution Magnetic Clip-In Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is compatible with the Canon R5 and the Canon Drop-In filter mount adapter EF-EOS R.

Q: 9. Is this only for FF RF mount camera bodies?

A: The Kolari Vision Light Pollution Magnetic Clip-In Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is compatible with APS-C mount RF cameras as well but it requires a mag mount from Kolari Vision specifically for the R7 and R10. This version will work with the R3, R5, R6, R, and also the RP with the included mag mount specifically for the RP.

Q: 10. does this work with the eos r?

A: The Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut H-Alpha Pass Magnetic Clip-in Filter for Canon RF-Mount Cameras is compatible with the Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera.

[0.23 lb] Works great on full spectrum cameras. Lets you get into the deep infrared on 720nm or higher converted cameras.

[5.2 x 5 x 0.9"] I’m new to IR photography. I’m using a Sony F828 with the magnet hack (Google it) & various external filters. I started with standard filters such as 720nm & 850nm but wanted something to pass more color for a more interesting twist. This 550nm delivers; it was worth the wait. It’s a lot of fun and making me enjoy photography again. There’s a lot of information out there about post-processing. Play with channel swapping (Photoshop channel mixer) to flex your creative muscles.

[Aluminum] I use a wide range of lenses, from cheap primes to large zooms, and my filter sizes vary across the range. With these clip-in filters, I can attach ND filters and shoot video with both RF and adapted EF lenses with no issues.

This 6 stop ND was perfect for shooting a music video outside in sunny Los Angeles, and the 1/8 Mist had just a hint of glow to highlights without killing the contrast.

I own all three 1/8 mist (0-stop, 3-stop, and 6-stop), and I have one in my camera at all times. Looking to try the 1/4 mist at some point to compare.

[Aluminum] After long ago exploring IR images with Kodak chemical films, I purchased the Kolari K665Pro and K720Pro to use on a stock Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and Canon lenses. I chose the Kolari Pro series for their sharp cutoff spectra as well as their filter coatings compared to Kolari's base series or Hoya. The Kolari Pro quality / performance / price point trade-offs were great IMHO. Starting with the 665, I set the camera for manual exposure (typically bracketing around +2) and manual focus (typically longer focus settings), and the stock sensors pick up enough red for good composition and control. It has been a short learning curve and I am most pleased with the images that the Kolari filters are generating: awesome black and white landscapes, cloudscapes, and waterscapes, and excellent starting points for post-processed color shots (native red hue or channel swapped)! No discernible color aberration until I push the image magnification to its pixel limits. The coatings have been great with tough lighting angles - no flares - and stay remarkably clean in windy, dusty environments! Continuing experiments with the 720, which pushes the limits of the stock sensors but still works well. Highly recommend the Kolari 665Pro for anyone getting into IR!!!

[Dedicated] I decided on the 3-stop version because I was looking for a little help during sunny days and this has worked perfectly. The magnet slaps right on place and is easy to remove with anything that has a thin corner like a guitar pick or a credit card. No more ND filters dependent on diameter size!

[Aluminum] I'm not sure how long rear filters have been around, but this is absolutly groundbreaking for astrophotography, as well as other purpose filters ie: Polarizer, Neutral Density, B&W, etc. So much easier, and cheaper, than purchasing numerous front filters and the smudges and dust they attract, not to mention the space those velcro filter holders take up in your gear bag. I'd rather have room for another lens (or two). Simply cover your lens with a UV/protection filter. Lastly, these rear filters are simple and easy to change out. I'll personally just use one camera for astrophotography and will buy a rear Polarizer filter for one of my other cameras for daylight shooting.

[Glass] I really like everything except I needed to order a larger size to fit a circular polaizer.

[Aluminum] Infrared takes a hole lot of experimenting. If you convert a camera I would say make a Full Spectrum Conversion. After that a full set of filters to se your options. This filter is one of the most user friendly filters you can get for it. Have fun with it if you get it.
