A: You can attach the MTAPE-TB3-LTO8 drive to a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 Mac using the Apple Thunderbolt 3 adapter. The only requirement is that the Mac being running 10.12.6 or higher.

[1] I've purchased dozens of these and haven't had any issues to date. Works as expected & reliable. I'm using a mLogic mTape LTO-7 drive. The only minor quibble I have is that they don't come with any sort of label/sticker. 5

[5.265 lb] An excellent tape based archiving system. I used it hooked up to a dedicated and inexpensive CHUWI Corebox computer that has windows 10 home and thunderbolt built in with 12 G of memory. 5

[1] Hooked it up to an Intel Mac Mini and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is compared to our old LTO-5. The Mac Mini has 10GbE and the two LTFS tapes I've created so far from our NAS have been very fast. One was created with the included mLogic app (the name escapes me at the moment) and the other with MyLTO. 5

[1] I bought this because I am transitioning from spinning disks to 2 1/2 inch SSDs and when this arrived I was impressed by how well it was made, its ease of installation and the fact that for 4 SSDs I only needed 1 power cord thus reducing some of the clutter of cables inside my case by 3. The fan has 3 settings, automatic, low and high and is attached to the rear of the unit and really quiet. Good price for a great little unit. 5

[1] Is working great in my HP Z820, was able to use 4 SSD in RAID 0 and it is blasing fast! Almost 1GB/s. Plastic feel a bit week but since it sit in place, should not cause any issue. 5

[5.265 lb] We purchased one of these units back in January, 2020 for use in a University audio/video recording setting. I believe we've already transferred over 150TB. There is a lot of relief when you know your master recordings are now backed up on something that lasts longer, is faster, closer and easier to deal with than stumbling and slow 'Cloud solutions' or having to shelve dozens of aging drives! We use YoYotta software with it. So far it has worked really well. The only issues we have had are with a LTO cart or two that had a problem and failed during the transfer process, not after. It is pretty darn fast and easy to hook up using thunderbolt. The Software is also great for adding metadata and sending emails to let you know it is finished once verified checks of the transferred data are complete. Because of 4K, file sizes are soaring ever higher, yet the mLogic LTO 8 is pretty darn fast and so good at 'retrieving' past recordings, I plan on buying one for my own personal use. As always, your mileage may vary. 5

[1] I recently built yet another video editing PC. Previously I combined them with an external SAS Raid. This time, I populated 3 of these cages with 2TB SSDs (24 TB total) and used an Areca ARC-1883ix-12, and put them inside the PC case. Doing this saved me 3-4K over my usual raid costs. 5
