Q: 1. My Apple laptop is now on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. Is this compatible with the V-600? Since I have never scanned before, my 2nd question has to do with transfer of the digital image to my computer----a USB thumb drive maybe?

A: Hi, there. Hope this will help you!(1) Refer your first question to a B&H representative or to Epson. I suggest starting with B&H. B&H reps are accessible by phone and are really helpful. (2) Once you scan an image (photo, document or film, including transparencies) you will send that image directly to a designated file on your computer. (3) This is a flatbed scanner. Thumb drives and USB connections are used to transfer images directly from your camera (not from flatbed scanners) to your computer, usually to an imaging program such as Lightroom or Photoshop. It is generally advisable to transfer images from the camera to a thumb drive and then upload from the thumb drive to your computer.

Q: 2. Can it scan Kodak Disc &110 Film?

A: I've used a Lomography DigitaLIZA 110 Film Scanning Mask for 110 Instamatic negatives on an older Epson Flatbed scanner but not my V600 yet. I see no reason why the same or similar mask would not work with the V600.

Q: 3. can i scan photo albums?

A: As long as you can get the page flat on the glass you can scan. Software will set up thumbnails to select each image.

Q: 4. I have three computers in my studio. Can I load this onto all three computers with a scanner?

A: Yes, for private use LaserSoft Imaging SilverFast SE can be installed on more then one computer as long as it is used with one scanner.

[Download] Silverfast, when paired with Epson perfection scanners, is the right tool for a great job. I am working with hundreds of negatives that are nearly a century old yet Silverfast SE has the ability to make (and correct) excellent prints from each neg. Silverfast has a software that fits your scanner. 5

[Download] The overall scanner is Excellent. It's fast and the quality is great. The only warning I would give is to not rely on the image correction software to color correct or fix all scratches. The software is limited and you can do better in photoshop. The color correct software can overcompensate some pictures and the scratch removal will not eliminate all scratches. As long as you realize that your OK. I do 2 scans, one with color correct and one without, I pick the best scan and bring it into Photoshop to finalize. 5

[Download] This is my first purchase of a scanner specifically for photos and I wanted to get one that would also do 35mm slides. I researched scanners online and decided on this one and I'm glad I did. It does an excellent job of scanning multiple photos at one time and up to 4 slides at one time. The quality is outstanding and I love the software that comes with it. 5

[Download] My main reason for buying this scanner was to digitize 35mm and Stereo Realist slides shot on Kodachrome 64 film. My other scanner (Microtek i700) works fine for reflective material and I need the larger bed. But the slide scans were dreadful: color shifts, blown-out lights and impenetrable darks. The Perfection V600, on the other hand, coupled with Ed Hammrick's excellent VueScan software, gives me slide scans that are nearly spot on in color and contrast: details visible in shadows, almost no color shift, and subtle differences in light areas well-preserved. I can even scan my mounted Stereo Realist slides in their mounts by laying them (carefully) directly on the scanning glass. This saves lots of time otherwise needed for unmounting and remounting the images.Since my main reason for looking for a new scanner was to scan slides, this scanner completely satisfied my needs and wishes. And the price is a bargain, too. 5

[Download] I was familiar with Epson flatbed scanners from using them at the newspaper I work at, so I kind of knew what to expect. This is a newer version than any we have at work, though, and it is better than what I've used before. I've used it thus far to scan a couple hundred old family photos for a digital projected image show at the funeral of a close relative. Everyone was in awe of the great, sharp, and colorful images of 50-year-old photos. I use it with a MacBook Pro equipped with Photoshop. Also have scanned dozens Kodachrome slides. It did a great job. Use of the slide holder made the effort easy. I anticipate using it in this capacity hundreds of more times as I develop digital projection shows for groups in my hobby from among the thousands of slides I have taken in the past 22 years. 5
