Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this have hard stops?

A: This filter does not have hard stops. The markings are for reference only.

Q: 2. Will this filter work with the NiSi 150mm holder?

A: Yes the LEE Filters 150 x 150mm SW150 Solar Stopper will fit in a Nisi 150mm holder.

Q: 3. Will these caps fit over the Tiffen 77mm or 82mm Variable ND?

A: Unfortunately no. The K&F Concept Soft Silicone Cap for Variable ND Filters (77mm) will only fit the K&F variable ND 77mm filters.

Q: 4. i want to purchase this filter please let me know that it is compatible with sony lences if not than which filter system i need to purchase i have 7rm2

A: Amit, to use the filter you have asked about you need to also have the filter holder, and the lens adaptor that are shown. The lens adaptor allows the filter holder to attach to the lens. The lens adaptor you choose must be based on the diameter of lens that you are going to use it on. So if you are going to use it on a 77mm diameter lens then you need to buy the 77mm adaptor similar to the one shown. If you have the correct lens adaptor and the SW150 Mark II adaptor as shown then the filter will be compatible with your lens. Typically the 150mm filter is for use on large diameter wide angle lenses. If yours is not this type of lens then you may want to use the 100mm or 75mm filters and required lens holder and adaptor. Alternatively you can purchase round ND filters that screw directly onto your lens without the need for a filter holder and adaptor, but make sure you order the correct diameter filter. Hope this helps.

Q: 5. Will this work with the B&H 100mm filter holder (with the correct adapter)?

A: I can only assume it would. I have been using Lee's Lens hood with built in filter holder for years and highly recommend it.

Q: 6. Little stop for Nikon 14 24

A: This Filter was designed to be used with the Lee SW Mark II Filter Holder. That Holder is only Compatibilityfor use with the following ultra-wide-angle lenses:Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G EDSamyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMCSigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 II DG HSMTokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 PRO FX

Q: 7. is there a filter holder for this 150 x 150 filter that will fit on a Nikon 300mm f2.8G lens?

A: Unfortunately, no. The SW150 filter holder pairs with adapters for common front filter thread diameters and adapters custom-designed to fit onto select ultra-wide lenses. I admit I do not own a Nikon 300mm f/2.8G. My understanding is that they use 52mm drop-in filters. If there is an available empty drop in filter holder capable of holding third party filters, your best option would be to buy a 52mm solar filter and drop that in. If that is not possible, then your best bet for using that lens would be to try rigging a DIY means of holding this filter to the front or, prefereably, using a different lens compatible with some type of solar filter. Best of luck.

Q: 8. what is the typical exposure time for this when shooting waterfalls in the day.. are we looking at 10 seconds or 10 minutes?

A: Cathy, it would be somewhere around 1 second to 4 seconds. If the normal shutter speed is 1/1000 with big stopper it would be 1 second. If the normal shutter speed is 1/250 with big stopper it will be 4 seconds. Lee filters has a nice app that shows the conversion if you are interested.

Q: 9. Will Lee's Big Stopper work with the Tamron 14MM lens? And, what adapter ring would I use with it and the Lee Filters Foundation Kit?

A: I'm using Lee's Big Stopper with my cokin z pro filter holder for my Canon lens with two Cokin adaptor rings ( 82 mm and 77 mm). It works perfect for me. I don't have experience with Lee Filters Foundation Kit.

Q: 10. The filter thread is 67mm on the glass side, but what is the width across the front side, it should be slightly larger than 67mm?

A: According to the manufacturer, the diameter of the filter would be 73.6mm.

[Multi Coated] This high quality filter makes adjustments to exposure very easy, especially when shooting video. It allows the shutter speed to remain constant, which is recommended for video. A simple turn of the filter smoothly transitions the exposure to a lighter or darker image to compensate for the ever changing outdoor light.

[Multi Coated] Great purchase at a great price. Perfect when using in intense sun light, allows for use with low apertures without over exposure

Also produces amazing distortion and water affects.

Highly recommended

[0.3 lb] Was looking for a filter that I would be able to shoot 180° shutter speed during the day and it works just perfect

[Multi Coated] I do video work and this filter is awesome. I shoot on the Sony a7iii at 24fps and with this filter I can shoot Slog3 (with a minimum ISO 800) at a shutter speed of 1/50 and have my Sigma Art 50mm wide open at 1.4 IN BROAD DAYLIGHT without blowing out my highlights. This is however, putting the filter at "max." If I were to turn the filter more then it would get darker but with a heavy vignette and the weird "x" pattern which is unavoidable with variable nd's. Because of this, I would personally not use any faster glass with this filter; I would have to buy a much stronger filter for an f1.2 or f1. That being said, it fits my needs great! Also be warned that because it is a variable ND, you can get the same gradient in the sky as you would with a normal polarizer filter.

[Multi Coated] I always had a bias that varioND filters shift colors greatly and colors vary in different filter positions.
Good news, there is a small color shift when you put the filter on the lens (which is easy to fix in post) but after through all the range you have almost no color shift! The difference between the min and max filter power is barely noticeable even on vectorscope.
