When mounted on a GDome 80mm Extension Tube for Photographyunderwater housing, this GDome 80mm Extension Tube for Photographyis used to extend the distance from your camera lens to the lens element (PDS dome or flat lens). By extending the distance an additional 80mm, the water is pushed further away from the camera lens, allowing the image to effectively be "zoomed out" as if you are using a wide-angle lens without losing any image quality. The additional distance will allow you to make use of the full extent of the PDS dome port. One user has described the experience as "it's almost like having a 10 dome port! It is easy to capture split shots now without having to use the wide setting on my iPhone."

As the Extension Port acts as a massive lens hood over the camera lens, reflections are significantly reduced when using either the PDS Dome or Flat Lens Element.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. has anyone used these for micro four thirds? looking for some extension tubes for my fully manual lens so AF capabilities don't matter and considering these or the viltrox for m43

A: These extension tubes can definitely work well on a Micro 4/3 mount camera.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Sony a7III?

A: Yes, the FotodioX Macro Extension Tube Set for Sony Alpha E-Mount Cameras: for Extreme Close-Up Photography, B&H # FOMACROTUBSN, would be compatible for use on the E-mount used on the Sony Alpha a7 III Mirrorless Digital Camera. Do note that the above are fully manual extension tubes, as there are no electronic contacts on the lens to transmit electronic information from the lens to the camera. As such, you will have to focus manually, as well as set your exposure manually. You also would not be able to control the aperture of the lens, so you will have to use the camera in either A (Aperture Priority) or M (Manual) mode.

Q: 3. Will this connect to an FTZ adapter? Even if there is no electrical connections.

A: Yes it will , with no electronic connection it means you would have to do everything manually (focus and aperture control ) assuming your lenses are D line ore manual F mount not G type

Q: 4. Could you put a adapter on the end for a Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 and use it to scan film on sony e mount cameras?

A: It will work but I would advise getting an adapter with an adjustable aperture ring or if the lens itself has an aperture ring you can control.

Q: 5. Does this work with a canon 800D/T7i?

A: Yes, will work with any Canon DSLR camera.

Q: 6. Can you use these rings to duplicate slides?

A: Yes, with the right lens. Your slides will have to be evenly back lit and you will also need to have the system optically centered, aligned and stable. Extension tubes are made for general close up and macro photography. If you only want to copy slides check out "slide copiers" listed at B&H.

Q: 7. Will this work on a 55mm-250mm EF-S F4.5-6 lens?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the 55-250mm lens.

Q: 8. what's the diameter of the threaded spacing ring? It that compatible of an ordinary step-up/step down ring?

A: We cannot find any information suggesting that these rings can use step-up rings.

Q: 9. Will these work with EF-S STM lenses?

A: The FotodioX Macro Extension Tube Set for Canon EOS (EF, EF-S) can mount a EF-S STM. But everything will be manual. Focusing and Aperture control will be all manual. With a Canon lens you would not be able to control the aperture at all. And whether you can focus the lens while on the extension tubes will depend on the specific lens you are using. Some lenses need to be attached directly to the camera to have focus control. For automatic Focus and Aperture control I would look at the FotodioX Pro Auto Macro Extension Tube Kit for Canon EF & EF-S Lenses linked here. https://bhpho.to/34CeJZN

Q: 10. Does it work on a canon rebel T5?

A: Yes, this fits on EF-S cameras like the Rebel T5.

[1.42 lb] The most common complaint about these are poor and tight fit, making them hard to attach and remove. I had no problems with these.

[Black] I have the Nikon F version of this macro tube set. If you want to add macro capability to your existing lenses, this is probably the cheapest way to do that. Are there any compromises due to the price? Optically, no, not as far as I can see. Build quality is acceptable, but doesn't feel premium. The screw threading attachment system is very functional, but means it takes longer to change your extension length; bellows would be super quick, but with this you might need to disassemble and reassemble everything multiple times if you don't get the magnification ratio you want right away. Also, since there are no electronic contacts, you have to change the aperture on the lens, not the camera body, so G lenses, AF-S P or E electronically controlled lenses will be difficult to use with these tubes. For those lenses, you will want something more high-tech. However, for Pre-AI, AI-S, or AF-D lenses, this will be great.

I think one very cool use of these tubes is adapting projector lenses or other non-standard optics; just get the required flange distance, add a helicons for focusing, and you have a pretty sweet setup on the cheap. I would love to try that at some point!

[1.42 lb] I didn't expect it to be this good with all the negativity I read about extension tubes, and even here. Used this with Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5x macro lens and it fits perfectly! Maybe some others that complain are probably using other heavy lenses. So my magnification has went from max 5x to 6.96x using all the tubes combined (49mm) with around 1-2 of working space between the lens and the subject!

I need that magnification for biting midges which are 1-3mm in size, and the can fill 25-75% of the frame! I extremely recommend them, but check the working distance of your lenses.

Down below the setup after the tubes (holding the upper grip with one hand), a cropped 4K video frame (4K@120fps, 1/250s, f/11, ISO 6400) of the biting midge before the tubes, and the setup before the tubes! I should make a better one next!

[1.42 lb] I was looking for something inexpensive to get started with macro photography and these tubes are just the thing. As an added bonus, they allow you to use the old IX-Nikkor lenses with modern cameras since the extension keeps the back of the lens away from the mirror. An old kit 30-60mm lens and these adapters are a great starter kit for macro photography.
