Engineered to deliver sharp and clear distortion-free views, the Celestron CGEM II 800 EdgeHD GoTo Telescopeis an ideal choice for observation, astrophotography, and imaging objects within or beyond our solar system. It features an aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system consisting of a corrector plate, a spherical primary mirror, and a secondary mirror along with a set of field-flattening lenses integrated into the baffle tube. Complementing the EdgeHD system is the proprietary StarBright XLT optical coating system, which improves light transmission and reflectivity across the entire visual spectrum. The combination of EdgeHD and StarBright XLT produces bright and clear high-resolution images with true color rendition across the entire field of view without distortion, aberrations, or off-axis comas.

Optimized for imaging, the internal focusing system features mirror support clutches to ensure proper alignment and mirror locks to avoid accidental defocusing during long-exposure astrophotography. The optical tube is outfitted with a standard 1.25" visual back to make it easier to find eyepieces, accessories, and imaging gear. For visual observations, a 1.25" star diagonal is included along with a 40mm Plössl eyepiece that yields 51x magnification. The EdgeHD 8" is offered here without a mount or tripod for users who already have a reliable support system and are looking to upgrade or add to their existing gear, but comes with a large CGE dovetail plate that is compatible with Losmandy-style saddles.

[None] Although delivery took approx 8 mos (thanks to current affairs), it was worth it. The optics are phenomenal, providing great views. Astro-photo is yet to come. Set-up, though do-able by one, is more of a two person job. With larger optics comes more unwieldiness. Highly recommend! 5

[9x50] Just ordered my Celestron 9.25 edge hd yesterday I received it 24 hours later. The boxes were not damaged and all the parts came with the order, nothing was missing. It all came packed very nicely and snug. So nothing gets damaged. Will definitely buy from these guys again. 5

[None] This is a cool and very well made case. Originally I was looking into a hard case for my Nexstar 8 but didn't want to add 25lbs of weight using the hard cases. This is the perfect alternative, lighter weight and sufficient protection. 5

[22 lb] I received the Celestron C8 soft sided bag and have stored my telescope in it ever since. The zippers work nicely and there is an accessory bag above the telescope bag that holds eyepieces and Diagonals. The stitching is well done. I store it and the telescope in the plastic bag that came with the telescope to keep it free from dust. 5

[9x50] I ordered this to be shipped to Australia, the delivery was fast, the price was excellent. Much better value than buying the scope here. The box was well packed by B&H with no damage. I was a bit sceptical that the alignment would work from my balcony as I don't have a 360 degree view, but it didn't matter, using manual align I point it at 3 places in my field of view and even on a full moonlit night the camera was finding between 50-100 stars. It only needs 20-50 stars for each calibration point. The only thing I can fault would be the fact that it takes 8 D-cell batteries (expensive) as opposed to the nexstar which used AA's. The batteries are housed in a holder which comes with a bag. There is a socket that plugs into the side of the scope. There is a chance that it could get tangled up, however the scope does have a feature where it sometimes rotates 360 degrees to undwind the cable if it thinks it's motion may wrap the cable. To offset the cost of the batteries I bought a 12V lead acid motorcyle battery and carry bag, car cigarette lighter connections and the celestron telescope cigarette light cable. It saves my lots of money on batteries and helps weigh down the tripod, which is already very sturdy. The telescope is on an alt-azimuth mount, however if you wanted to purchase an equtorial mount (for very long exposure astro photography) with rings later on the main scope could be easily transferred to that. I would recommend this telescope. JBM- Brisbane. 5

[None] The telescope is well made. The Edge HD series contains an added lens for a flat field with a 44mm image circle for full frame cameras. As received it is an f/10 with a long focal length of 2790mm excellent for planetary observation. With a reducer, 1953mm and with the Starizona Hyperstar V4, 540mm! This scope can be configured as 3 different telescopes. It also has mirror locks to manage mirror flop with an aftermarket focuser. 5

[f/10] This bag works perfectly for my Celestron 8 SCT. The interior is large enough to accommodate dovetail rails on both sides of the OTA. The zippered openings are large enough to allow easy insertion and removal of the scope. 5

[26 x 16 x 14"] This bag is way better than I could have hoped for. It has plenty of padding, 2 different ways to put your scope in, a strap inside to keep it secure, heavy duty zippers, eyelets for the included padded shoulder strap, and a generously sized storage compartment at the top. Honestly, this bag should cost more than it does. I absolutely love it! Couldnt recommend it more! 5

[1.25"] I purchased this combination that was on sale with the intention of immediately selling the amount. The AVX is a good mount but too small for this OTA's weight. When compared to the SE8, the stars are much sharper all the way to the edges (imaging). The OTA with reducer brings a nice focal distance for astrophotography, pulling in those distant targets and zooming in to nebula. Worth considering: the focal reducer and OAG are big and add a substantial amount of weight. I use this with the ZWO AM5 mount and have been achieving 0.5 arc-second guiding or better under fair conditions. 5
