The DS230 incorporates a powerful 2500-lumen wide beam COB LED light array, allowing you to effortlessly switch between still and video. The video light doubles as an aiming light and automatically turns off and back on each time you take a photo.

The DS230 supports a wide variety of triggering methods to fit virtually any application in, out of, and around the water.

A 5000K color temperature balances with available light underwater to provide richer coloring and deeper blue water backgrounds when shooting at wide angles. Models' skin tones will look more natural, and reds and oranges will pop with more vibrant color.

A custom-formulated ABS-PC blend makes the strobe fundamentally corrosion-proof and over 0.5 lb lighter than aluminum body strobes.

The robust dial controls are now even larger and taller for comfortable use with even the thickest gloves. A slide lock prevents the strobe from accidentally being turned on when not in use.

The battery pack attaches quickly and easily with a unique toggle lock that prevents accidental floods. You don't even need to lubricate the O-ring. The strobe front is compatible with older NiMH battery packs or the DS230 strobe battery pack.

The custom rechargeable cells power a high frame rate firing from the first shot to the last. These premium quality industrial-grade NiMH cells have been proven to outperform alkaline and lithium cells in real-world underwater conditions, including the temperature fluctuations and storage conditions of the photographer diver.

[1" Ball Mount] I only bought this to have as a spare. The metal fittings are now aluminum, rather than chome-plated brass which opens up concerns over electrolysis for those of us that have a habit of leaving our systems together. I'm not sure why Ikelite changed this... perhaps to save weight and cost. Anyway, it's just a spare, but I assume it'll work just fine. Usual great service from B+H including a great option for shipping to Canada. 5

[Manual, TTL] I shoot with a pair of DS 160 strobes. In the past I've used the flat diffuser that come with the strobe. In the waters off of North Carolina and NY/NJ we frequently have a lot of suspended partials. While the flat diffuser offers some help against backscatter - i find they also create 'hot spots'. The new dome diffuser create a more even light and knock down more of the backscatter. 5

[120°] I bought the Ikelite to use as a handgrip on a Pixii A2572 for added grip and it works just great. They are good on cameras that do not get wet. 5

[Manual, TTL] I shoot in cold green water and use a ds 161. This diffuser is absolutely needed for shooting underwater and it does its job fantastically. 5

[5000K] I use this diffusers on a couple of DS161. Shoot with a 7Dmk2, but most of the times I notice the flash too agressive in TTL mode (camera at ISO 100). When you are using a zoom lens an looking for some live form, you cannot adjust in every shoot, so TTL it is almos the best way to go. Anyway, with this products the flash harsh was gone, as well the shadows. I cannot take more pics without these anymore. 5
