A 1.5x squeeze ratio is a perfect balance between the size and anamorphic intensity. With a 1.5x squeeze ratio, you will have a 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze. There is also room for you to crop into a 2.4:1 widescreen ratio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I take photos with this lens on an A6600 camera?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens is fully functional for cinematic and photographic needs. To produce a proper looking image you will need to de-squeeze the image in an image editor.

Q: 2. can I use close-up filters with this lens to get macro anamorphic shots?

A: Using the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle, you can use 77mm macro diopters or a great suggestion for shooting with high quality optics to attain macro abilities, the Lindsey Optics diopter matte box accessories and screw in filters, for optical excellence. https://bhpho.to/3uwMiNb

Q: 3. Hello the front of this lenses have tation or are non rotate front? i mean to attach filter like a ND variable

A: The front of the lenses of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Anamorphic Prime 5-Lens Kit (Micro Four Thirds, Blue Flare) do not rotate and have filter threads to allow the attachment of screw on filters such as a variable ND filter.

Q: 4. Does the set come with a case?

A: No, A case is not included with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle.

Q: 5. will they work on Z Cam E2-F6 Pro Full frame camera?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens is an S35 sensor sized lens. It would not be a good choice for a Full frame camera like the Z CAM E2-F6.

Q: 6. EF version is $500 more than the other versions OR you could get an interchangeable bayonet for $100.Whats the difference?

A: With the extra cost, you get the high-precision (expensive) PL mount. If you are a user of PL, you understand the cost. Neither of the mounts are $100 adapters.

Q: 7. Will this lens work in EF mount with the Metabones Ultra .71x Speedbooster?

A: No, this has been untested and we can not determine the implications when mounting on the Metabones speed booster when working with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm.

Q: 8. When use with a full frame like the R5C, do we still benefit from the full size of the sensor or do we need to crop in ?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle could work if the R5C is set to S35 cropped sensor mode. The lenses would not work when the sensor is in full frame mode.

Q: 9. Is the focal length the full-frame equivalent on S35?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (Nikon Z, Silver Flare) would provide a 56mm view on S35 sensors. The lens is not full frame and can not be used with full frame sensors. There is a 1.6x magnification or Crop on S35 sensor sizes. This magnification stays the same if the lens is full frame or S35.

Q: 10. What is the equivalent horizontal field of view of this lens vs. a spherical lens? Is it 20/1.5 =13.3mm?

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 20mm T2.2 1.5x MFT Anamorphic Lens (Micro Four Thirds, Silver Flare) would give you the same horizontal field of view of approximately a 13.3mm lens while keeping the same vertical field of view of a 20mm lens.

[1.59 lb] Ive used the 27mm for a while and was convinced I needed something a bit closer for my kit. Great tool to have and compliments the the other lenses as well for both my Komodo and R5C! Very little distortion, barely any breathing and the silver flare is not obnoxious! Recommend these lenses as they are small and light and great intro to the bigger and beefier vintage anamoprhics.

[Yes] Excellent value! Just make sure to buy a 82mm close-up vivitar lens set as well as it will make this lens a lot more useful and also mitigate some of its weaker points. Weight is great as well. Overall this is a very good mix of Anamorphic bliss for full frame sensors and image quality especially when you want flares a little more controlled. I'm using it with the Red V-Raptor VV.

[Super35/APS-C] After reading the review in NewsShooter I thought I'd give these a go. They are my first anamorphic lenses (usually so expensive).

Even though I'm using this on my URSA Mini (super 35) with PL mount, the image captured is lovely - probably the sweet spot of the lens. It's full of character, but not too much. Sharp enough, but not clinical. The mechanics feel good and smooth build quality is solid.

They are quite a nice wide anamorphic 1.8x squeeze. For some recordings of the landscape in our valley, I wanted to capture a full panoramic. So recording to the full sensor (16:9) and then de-squeezing without cropping I ended up with a 3.3:1 panoramic. Obviously I won't be delivering a commercial project in that aspect ratio, but for my home recordings it's lovely to see such a vista captured in one shot.

I can highly recommend.

[T16] Great value for the price. The aesthetics of the images achieved are beautiful. It would be nice to have a detailed manufacturer's video of the mount change from PL to EF.

[55 mm] I am truly amazed by the images these lenses can produce for the price and size! If you are looking for lenses that don't look sterile and have some character to them without having to sell all your possessions to afford them, then these are absolutely the lenses for you!

[1.59 lb] First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation.

Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light).

I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it.

However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic.

Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.

[13] image rendered so great. with Bmcc6k full frame camera has a bit vignette, but if scale up the clip like 1.1x in davinci resolve can get rid of vignette.and I can live with that. With sigma MC-21 adapter is enoght tight to not worry abot it.

[55 mm] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.

[L-Mount] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.
