A 1.5x squeeze ratio is a perfect balance between the size and anamorphic intensity. With a 1.5x squeeze ratio, you will have a 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze. There is also room for you to crop into a 2.4:1 widescreen ratio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the focus throw on these lenses compared to say, the dzo which has a very long focus throw?

A: All three lenses in the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle have a 110 degree Focus Throw.

Q: 2. When use with a full frame like the R5C, do we still benefit from the full size of the sensor or do we need to crop in ?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle could work if the R5C is set to S35 cropped sensor mode. The lenses would not work when the sensor is in full frame mode.

A: Yes, you should be able to adapt the lenses of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare) to your Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema camera 4K using an EF to MFT lens adapter.

Q: 4. Would this be compatible with the Black Magic 4k equipped with a metabones XL speedbooster?

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (PL/EF Mounts, Silver Flare) would work with the Metabones XL Speedbooster.. However, you will be limited to recording in 4k resolutions when using S35 lenses like the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare) will work fine with an EF to RF adapter when mounted to a Red Komodo camera.

A: The EF versions of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Anamorphic Prime 3-Lens Bundle (Canon RF, Amber Flare) should be compatible with an EF to RF adapter, but it would be recommended to confirm clearance distances with your chosen adapter. [25.6 mm] First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation.

Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light).

I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it.

However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic.

Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.

[1.515 lb] I am truly amazed by the images these lenses can produce for the price and size! If you are looking for lenses that don't look sterile and have some character to them without having to sell all your possessions to afford them, then these are absolutely the lenses for you!

[50mm] The best way to go anamorphic at a budget price using the full size of an MFT sensor like on ZCam E2. Top quality build and image. Just an error in the B&H description: the filter size is 67mm!!!

[25.6 mm] Great value for the price. The aesthetics of the images achieved are beautiful. It would be nice to have a detailed manufacturer's video of the mount change from PL to EF.

[Yes] Really loving this lens particularly the lightweight. Have used Angenieux and Fuji lenses on a few features, and this lens cut right in with them. It's fast and lightweight and build quality is good as well. Definitely recommended.

[13] I have this lens on my gimbal camera and it is so amazing and sharp. It's such wide angle with out distorting the lines. Light weight and very solid construction. Plus it comes with it's own pelican case for transport.

[Yes] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.

[1.5x] Ive used the 27mm for a while and was convinced I needed something a bit closer for my kit. Great tool to have and compliments the the other lenses as well for both my Komodo and R5C! Very little distortion, barely any breathing and the silver flare is not obnoxious! Recommend these lenses as they are small and light and great intro to the bigger and beefier vintage anamoprhics.

[25.6 mm] I have a set of Sony CineAlta lenses that work with this really well. Any lens that has a ~14mm or shorter protrusion from the PL mount tabs will fit. The lenses are clinically sharp, and it doesn't look like any of that sharpness is really lost with this. I recently took this in to Atlas to try their anamorphic lenses alongside, and they have definitely a look whereas this preserves the look one gets from the taking lenses. The flares are very spherical, and the bokeh is round until you get to the edge of the view. It's fun to use, and the guys at Atlas thought it was cool. I recently shot a movie with this and the CineAlta lenses, and it all went well.
