Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to mount a Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R 0.71x onto a Canon R5c, then mount these lenses with an EF mount to make these lenses full frame?

A: No, the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R 0.71x (BH #CAMAEFRF71X • MFR #4757C001) is designed to adapt Full-Frame lenses to a Super 35 body. These are Super 35 lenses and the R5C is a Full-Frame body, so you're in the opposite situation. We would recommend buying Full-Frame lenses for the R5C.

Q: 2. Can I take photos with this lens on an A6600 camera?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens is fully functional for cinematic and photographic needs. To produce a proper looking image you will need to de-squeeze the image in an image editor.

Q: 3. Will this lens work in EF mount with the Metabones Ultra .71x Speedbooster?

A: No, this has been untested and we can not determine the implications when mounting on the Metabones speed booster when working with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm.

Q: 4. How do you think these lenses will hold up on a dsmc2 scarlet w? or should they be best use with dslr cameras

A: The following lens are optimized for Super 35 CMOS sensor and work very well with dslr as well.

Q: 5. Can I swap this EF mount onto the RF lenses?

A: Yes, The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) will adapt to the Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon RF) mount system.

Q: 6. What is the flange depth of these lenses?

A: Please use the chart below to review the flange depth of Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Anamorphic lenses. Mount Protrusion Diagram for the Nanomorph (PL/EF): https://bit.ly/3NIzbim

Q: 7. Does anyone know if using these lenses with an EF mount in conjunction with the EF to RF adapter on a Red Komodo would cause issues? Interested in using them that way because of the rear ND option.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare) will work fine with an EF to RF adapter when mounted to a Red Komodo camera.

Q: 8. Would the EF version fit BMPCC 6K Pro without damaging the internal ND filters?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Amber Flare) (B&H# VE273550PEFA), when fitted with the EF mount, will work with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (Canon EF) (B&H# BL6KPKCAMP).

Q: 9. Is the focal length the full-frame equivalent on S35?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (Nikon Z, Silver Flare) would provide a 56mm view on S35 sensors. The lens is not full frame and can not be used with full frame sensors. There is a 1.6x magnification or Crop on S35 sensor sizes. This magnification stays the same if the lens is full frame or S35.

Q: 10. Will these lenses work on ZCAM E2 s6 ef mount standard. Why shims?

A: The shims included with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle would be used when using the PL mount.

[Yes] An anamorphic lens is an essential tool for anyone seriously interested in shooting video, and the Sirui 50mm is an excellent choice for the price. Using it on my Panasonic Lumix G9, I've found it works very well for both stills and video.

[T2.4] First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation.

Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light).

I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it.

However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic.

Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.

[55 mm] Very nice lens at a decent price. I included some shots I took. I am the rare person who is using the camera for 2:1 stills not video.

[50mm] Ive used the 27mm for a while and was convinced I needed something a bit closer for my kit. Great tool to have and compliments the the other lenses as well for both my Komodo and R5C! Very little distortion, barely any breathing and the silver flare is not obnoxious! Recommend these lenses as they are small and light and great intro to the bigger and beefier vintage anamoprhics.

[1.5x] I have a set of Sony CineAlta lenses that work with this really well. Any lens that has a ~14mm or shorter protrusion from the PL mount tabs will fit. The lenses are clinically sharp, and it doesn't look like any of that sharpness is really lost with this. I recently took this in to Atlas to try their anamorphic lenses alongside, and they have definitely a look whereas this preserves the look one gets from the taking lenses. The flares are very spherical, and the bokeh is round until you get to the edge of the view. It's fun to use, and the guys at Atlas thought it was cool. I recently shot a movie with this and the CineAlta lenses, and it all went well.

[Super35/APS-C] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.

[1.5x] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.

[Super35/APS-C] I love shooting with this thing. Gives all of my work a fun twist and makes a visually interesting picture. It may not be perfect, but its character delivers so much.

[1.6 lb] just mount and shoot! if your camera is in the 16:9 mode, the picture on
the preview screen looks almost like with a normal lense. in post,

you'll desqueeze and baam.. got the cinematic look.
only one downside, you'll need a diopter and an adapter ring to shoot close ups.
