A 1.5x squeeze ratio is a perfect balance between the size and anamorphic intensity. With a 1.5x squeeze ratio, you will have a 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze. There is also room for you to crop into a 2.4:1 widescreen ratio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the focal length the full-frame equivalent on S35?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (Nikon Z, Silver Flare) would provide a 56mm view on S35 sensors. The lens is not full frame and can not be used with full frame sensors. There is a 1.6x magnification or Crop on S35 sensor sizes. This magnification stays the same if the lens is full frame or S35.

Q: 2. I have a zcam f6 with PL or EF mount. Do I understand correctly that the zcam f6 is compatible with a PL mount? Only with the zcam with the EF mount is not compatible. the zcam f6 has a changeable mount. It's not entirely clear to me because the zcam is listed in the incompatible list

A: Correct depending on which unit a end-user can be using due to the protruding rear elements, certain ZCAM EF cameras may not work with the Vazen 50mm lens. PL units should be fine but would double check with manufacture.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with the DJI Inspire 2 drone with Zenmuse X7 camera?

A: Yes, The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm with DJI DL mount will support the Zenmuse X7 camera on the Inspire 2 drone.

Q: 4. EF version is $500 more than the other versions OR you could get an interchangeable bayonet for $100.Whats the difference?

A: With the extra cost, you get the high-precision (expensive) PL mount. If you are a user of PL, you understand the cost. Neither of the mounts are $100 adapters.

Q: 5. Will this lens work in EF mount with the Metabones Ultra .71x Speedbooster?

A: No, this has been untested and we can not determine the implications when mounting on the Metabones speed booster when working with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm.

Q: 6. Does the anamorphic squeeze affect the lens focal length on full frame?

A: No, the anamorphic squeeze does not affect the lens' focal length on a full frame sensor.

Q: 7. Would this be compatible with the Black Magic 4k equipped with a metabones XL speedbooster?

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (PL/EF Mounts, Silver Flare) would work with the Metabones XL Speedbooster.. However, you will be limited to recording in 4k resolutions when using S35 lenses like the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm.

Q: 8. Can I swap this EF mount onto the RF lenses?

A: Yes, The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) will adapt to the Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon RF) mount system.

Q: 9. We this lens work with the DJI Ronin 4D camera??

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (DJI DL, Blue Flare) is designed to specifically work with the DJI DL mount, which is the native mount on the DJI Ronin 4D 4-Axis Cinema Camera. The camera needs to be set in the super 35 mode to not encounter vignetting.

Q: 10. Will this enable an MFT-mount Nanomorph to fit on an EF-mount camera?

A: When using the Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 Lens the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) will allow the lens to mount to Canon EF mount cameras.

[2.485 lb] Great value for the price. The aesthetics of the images achieved are beautiful. It would be nice to have a detailed manufacturer's video of the mount change from PL to EF.

[T16] My apologies got the adapters mixed. Both my FD to EF and PL to EF by fotodiox are a must own. Work great!!!

[T16] Works on all angenieux zoom lenses in fact. I'm really pleased with it. Needed to take away the support from it to make it fit with the ursa mini. But with zoom lenses like the angenieux there is always rod support that holds the lenses.

[13] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.

[13] I have a set of Sony CineAlta lenses that work with this really well. Any lens that has a ~14mm or shorter protrusion from the PL mount tabs will fit. The lenses are clinically sharp, and it doesn't look like any of that sharpness is really lost with this. I recently took this in to Atlas to try their anamorphic lenses alongside, and they have definitely a look whereas this preserves the look one gets from the taking lenses. The flares are very spherical, and the bokeh is round until you get to the edge of the view. It's fun to use, and the guys at Atlas thought it was cool. I recently shot a movie with this and the CineAlta lenses, and it all went well.

[T2.4] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.

[2.485 lb] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.

[T2.4] Ive used the 27mm for a while and was convinced I needed something a bit closer for my kit. Great tool to have and compliments the the other lenses as well for both my Komodo and R5C! Very little distortion, barely any breathing and the silver flare is not obnoxious! Recommend these lenses as they are small and light and great intro to the bigger and beefier vintage anamoprhics.
