The Meyer-Optik Trioplan 35mm f/2.8 II Lens Nikon Ffrom Meyer-Optik Trioplan 35mm f/2.8 II Lens Nikon Fis a classic, compact, wide-angle prime lens designed for Nikon F-mount cameras. Made for travel, street, or nature photography, this sturdy all-metal lens produces a high degree of sharpness. It has a distinct artistic quality for a smooth rendering of out-of-focus areas to suit shallow depth of field shooting.

The lens elements are made from coated Schott optical glass in order to produce vibrant colors and high contrast in a variety of lighting conditions. This lens is also characterized by its manual focus operation, short 7.9" minimum focusing distance, and a 12-blade diaphragm that produces the famous Trioplan soap bubble bokeh for out-of-focus highlights.

[f/22] The lens is still subject to side light and flaring, but NOT direct on sun shots. I am waiting on the other Meyer Optik lenses to come out of production, but this lens better then my vintage version. I love it.

[f/22] The small size of the lense make it easy to carry in your photo bag.

This lense enables not only great bokeh but provides a very good sharpness and is very sensitive to white balance variations.
Try it and you will enjoy it immediately.

[12] How do you activate the close focus front moving element on this lens?

[52 mm (Front)] This reprint lens has some advantages over the original model.
- Shortest shooting distance
- No mount adapter required
- Low lens distortion (personal impression)
And, the bubble bokeh comes out firmly as well as the old one.
I like it very much to exclude its price.

[Manual Focus] I ove the way this Lydith renders, excellent detail wide open but with a soft glow. Stop it dow to f/5.6 and it get amazingly sharp, although still a bit mushy in the corners. It is proving outstanding for head/shoulders portraits wide open and nice for landscapes stopped down to f/5.6 to f/11. Its optical design is old but then that what I bought it for. Fabrication quality is excellent, beautifully made. My old wish would be that they make it rangefinder couple for Leica M cameras (none of M digital cameras support live view). One buys this lens for what it is, and it is not like a late version Leica lens yet it has its own qualities one can take advantage of. Considering it is a lens made in Germany by skilled craftsmen just as Leica lenses are, the price is not bad at all. Just realize what you are buying is old school optical design in a beautiful modern package.

[f/2.8] I wanted to try a manual lens on my A7r IV. This lens is much sharper than my Sony 40mm G lens. On par with the Batis (albeit manual focus). It is extremely well built and the aperture can can declick for video. I'll be adding more from this line to my kit.

[Manual Focus] I bought this lens for its soap-bubble bokeh, and its lovely. It's a remake of a 90-year-old design with much improved sharpness and contrast. The German build quality is exquisite, too. The center sharpness is excellent wide-open, and the surrounding area has a beautiful glow to it. A truly unique lens!

[52 mm (Front)] Nice lens with nice bubble bokeh. Nice vintage effect. Creates a dreamy world or sceneray. You need to get used to the manual settings and handling (nowadays where everything is automatic) but it works quite fast. Delivery of B&H was very fast even from the US to Switzerland. I can highly recommend the lens and as well B&H.
