Protect cameras, lenses, photographic and optical equipment, mobile electronics, and other valuables from excessive moisture, dirt, and dust with the Ruggard EDC-50L-WO Electronic Dry Cabinet. The cabinet's fast-acting TE Cooling Wafer regulates the interior's relative humidity from 60-35% to help prevent fungus and corrosion that can damage delicate gear and other sensitive materials. Humidity adjustments take place over a 1- to 3-hour period.

The large LCD screen displays ambient temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius) and the relative humidity. The cabinet is gasket-sealed to maintain humidity levels.

The door features a keyed lock that keeps the cabinet contents safe and secure, and prevents unauthorized access to your equipment. The lock comes complete with two keys.

The Electronic Dry Cabinet has no fan or compressor to make noise, so it provides silent operation. It is also dripless, eliminating the need for a messy water tray that requires draining. The cabinet is powered by an included multi-voltage power supply.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used to "bake" analog tapes that the surface of the tapes become sticky and then gum-up the tapes heads and the tape won't play. It's usually done at 130 degrees for a few hours. ?

A: Unfortunately, the EDC-80L hasn't been tested for this specific use. The results may vary.

Q: 2. Can the 50L fit a canon 70-200mm?

A: Yes, the Ruggard EDC-50L Electronic Dry Cabinet (Black, 50L) will fit a Canon 70-200. A 70-200 lens is usually 8 inches long and the 50L is 11 inches wide so it will fit.

Q: 3. I do not live in a humid environment for now. But thinking of buying it just as a nice way to store my expensive camera gear. Do the folks here still recommend it?

A: Yes, many of our customers use Ruggard EDC-125L Electronic Dry Cabinet (125L, Black) BH #RUEDC125L to store their expensive camera gear even though they don't live in a humid environment and we highly recommend this dry cabinet.

Q: 4. Will the 80L fit a 200mm f2, 150-600, 70-200, 85, and 1dx? Or will I need something bigger?

A: Yes it will fit that combination

Q: 5. Does this unit make any noticeable noise during operation?

A: The, Ruggard EDC-FP80L Electronic Dry Cabinet with Fingerprint Lock (Black, 80L), is very quite.

Q: 6. How far away from a wall must the cabinet be located?

A: To allow proper moisture wicking, simply having the Ruggard 90L Dry Cabinet's moisture sync slightly away from the wall would typically provide adequate space and venting. I would recommend 2-5 inches away from the wall or as much as you can adequately provide for optimal operation.

Q: 7. Warning to anyone buying! There's a really strong chemical/factory smell after opening the door, how can I remove this? Can it take damage any camera electronics?

A: When using the Ruggard Electronic Dry Cabinet (120L), it would be a good idea to air the cabinet out by keeping the door open a bit for a few hours so when you open the cabinet it will no longer smell as much. But the odor is not going to damage any camera electronics.

Q: 8. Can this unit be used in an outdoor (covered) environment?

A: I live near the Atlantic Ocean where any metal object left exposed to outdoor air will rust. Considering the cost of the unit you are purchasing, I would keep it in a temperature controlled area inside.

Q: 9. Can the 80-L be stacked three high with the shelves in full use?

A: You may be able to stack the Rugged Electronic Dry Cabinet at your own discretion. However, it is recommended to put a ¾ or 1” piece of plywood between each unit, and possibly create a frame to support the units.

Q: 10. I've read reviews that say there's no ground, which means there could be a problem with static electricity in the cabinet. Is there a solution for this?

A: While we have not received complaints from customers regarding issues with static electricity with these units, if you are looking for a cabinet for use with items sensitive to static electricity such as motherboards, computer chips and components, etc., I would recommend purchasing a cabinet designed for this specific usage. If you are using the cabinet to store camera equipment and accessories, there should not be an issue, but you may view a few of the other replies from posters who have listed common techniques often recommended as suitable for controlling issues with static.

[LCD Display] I don’t know if I even need it but I was like I invest so much on gear, I should probably get it.

It looks good in the room so that’s a bonus.

[<8 W] Very good small cabinet. I mainly use it for keeping filters along with other big one which keeps cameras and lenses. Humidity control seems to be very accurate for me. Also the case itself is well made and very rigid. Highly recommend.

[Key Lock] Received the 80L Ruggard a few weeks ago. It was very well packed. The case itself performs very well. The humidity in my home over the past few weeks has been 55-65 percent, but the cabinet has kept the humidity at a constant 40 percent (though when I open the cabinet it takes it a while to return to 40).

I tested the accuracy of the cabinet with a separate digital hygrometer and the difference between the cabinet reading and my hygrometer was never more than 2 percentage points of relative humidty.

[Glass, Steel] This was a bit of an impulse buy for me while on sale and turned out to be a purchase I am very happy about. As I have recently invested heavily in lenses, this gives me a safe and secure place to keep them and piece of mind that the humid summer won’t encourage fungal growth. I haven’t verified that the temp and humidity readings are accurate but trust that they are close enough to serve the purpose.

[Glass, Steel] I was looking for a way to easily store and access my cameras and lenses in a dust-free place. Also I need humidity control in the summer. This cabinet is well made and convenient to use. I decided to keep a battery powered humidity monitor inside to check the humidity. The cabinet maintains a steady humidity level while the temperature and humidity in the room vary.

[23.225 lb] I got the 125 L size because of the pull out shelves, which make access much easier. It's doing a perfect job of holding the humidity at 30-32%. That reading agrees with another humidity gauge I have, tho the Ruggard is much faster to respond when I open the door. The setup was easy & quick. The shelf spacing is easily adjusted. It only took about 15 minutes to get the humidity down from 70% to 30% after initial startup.

[1.8 ft³ / 50 L] Ideal size and the space to store the Canon 600F4 with body attached, it comes with combination lock which is great. Zero noise and works perfect.

[Glass, Steel] I feel I made a correct choice, buying this 125L cabinet instead of 80L one. I have one DSLR and 4 Mirrorless cameras and plenty of lenses plus a few flashes. Now all of them could stay in their new home without worrying the high humidity from bad weather conditions.

[Glass, Steel] Had considered one of these for a long time and I happy with the decision to finally go ahead with one. Holds lots of gear and keeps out dust and lowers humidity. Build quality is good, and the door feels like it has a good seal.
