Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This adapter differs from the Ricoh GA-1 adapter for the GRIII GW-4 wide lens in that it has none of the electronic contacts. How does that affect the connection between GRIII camera body and GW-4 lens?

A: Though there are no electronic contacts in this adapter, it still enables you to use the wide lens attachment for the GRIII without any issues.

Q: 2. Is the adapter made from plastic or aluminum?

A: This adapter is made of Aluminium Alloy.

Q: 3. I need a rear cap for this adapter. What size do I need?

A: We do not have a rear lens cap compatible for use with the NiSi Filter Adapter for Ricoh GR III (49mm). The rear of the NiSi Filter Adapter for Ricoh GR III is designed for the dedicated bayonet mount on the front of the Ricoh GR III Digital Camera.

Q: 4. This connector has none of the electronic contacts of the Ricoh GA-1 adapter, so the camera does not recognize when the wide lens is attached?

A: Correct, this does not have any of the electrical contact points like the Ricoh GA-1. However if you are using the RIGW4 this has no contact points so it is just an analog adapter so you would not need electronic contact points to use that wide angle adapter.

Q: 5. can this filter be used to view the flame and horse head nebula too and does it help viewing galaxies..??

A: So we really do not recommend using this filter for this purpose. It is more for Imaging, and it will reduce what you are seeing. I honestly don't recommend using a filter at all with looking at what you are going to view. However if you did want to get a filter then I would go with the Celestron UHC (Ultra High Contrast) LPR Filter (1.25 ) - Reduces Transmission of Wavelengths of Artificially-Produced Light. Q: 6. It looks like the ASFT 100 and the ASSF 80 will both fit my telescope. The Baader film is the same in both filters. What am I getting in the ASFT 100 that warrants spending the extra $10?

A: A larger metal ring. A larger film area.

Q: 7. Can you still use macro mode with this on the camera? I’ve seen some people saying it might cause an error…

A: Yes, the NiSi Filter Adapter for Ricoh GR III (49mm) can be used while the Ricoh GR III Digital Camera is in macro mode.

Q: 8. Can this camera be controlled Via RS-422 using the older Sony RM-BR300 remote control unit?

A: Hi Kevin, Yes The BRC-X1000/1 does support the VISCA RS-422 protocal BUT connection is through an RJ-45 jack. The RM-BR300 comes with a 9-pin phoenix connector but you will have to make your own cables (page 12 & 22 of the operation manual: https://pro.sony/s3/cms-static-content/operation-manual/3854213171.pdf). -Jen

Q: 9. Can you use this the same as a light pollution filter?

A: Light pollution filters and OIII filters pass different spectra and are used for different purposes. OIII are good for specific objects that emit in the OIII spectrum strongly, such as some nebula (veil, crab) and especially planetary nebula (dumbbell, ring). LPR filters are designed to filter light pollution - mostly sodium vapor light and are good for increasing contrast across a broader range of objects.

Q: 10. Does Nisi adapter hold a regular 49mm UV filter?

A: Yes, the NiSi Filter Adapter for Ricoh GR III (49mm) would allow you to connect a 49mm circular filter to the Ricoh GR III Digital Camera.

What can I say about an air filter. It appears to be quality made,

The Baader Filters have been the 'Gold Standard' for both Visual and Imaging.

However the thin film material must be carefully handled.

Very nice. Could use one more thread though. Seems a little short on threading when trying to attach and remove while making lens changes in the dark. Makes me a little nervous sometimes that I will drop it during removal from the lens. Good quality though and I like having it around.

Just got it today and its awsome. Kind of nervous about getting it because it doesnt have a mic input but it makes up for that in picture quality. I film sports and need a light camera and wanted to get a HD one at that. So i did and this thing works great, hard to believe it was almost double the price a few months ago also You just cant beat the quality and price for this one. Problems Encountered: NONE so far! Baader makes some great lenses and filters, I have yet to be disappointed and this one is no different.

One of the best items I've purchased for my 140mm telescope.
The reduction in sky glow and the contrast improvement add to those Oh, Wow! moments of star gazing.

There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.
