[Fiberboard] I loaded the best of all my photos, about 400, onto a 4 gig thumb drive. Just turn the unit on and it starts to play a slide show. There is a learning curve for the menu options, however. The included manual is very basic. And the unit does not always respond to the remote, and takes several clicks to operate. You can navigate through subdirectories to locate what you want. Undocumented feature: hit zoom, then enter, to pause a slide show. You need to view the screen at a 90 degree angle for the best results. An adjustable support would help with this. My unit came with one bad pixel at the top left of the screen, otherwise, no problems.

[1.78 lb] SSDs are great but still too pricey per gig to hold your photos or to act as a backup drive. The black WD hdds give the best performance of any reasonably priced drive and have the best warranties, 5 years from the manufacturer. I find that WD drives last basically forever barring physical accidents. An interesting datapoint- Google data centers use ordinary hdds for a lot of their storage and one brand of drive, I read, has a much lower failure rate than others. They won't say who the manufacturer is, but I have to believe it's WD. You don't buy an hdd for speed, at least once you've gotten used to ssd speeds, you buy it to not crash, and in this these drives trully excel.

[0.15 lb] Bought this for extra bulk storage as I ran out of m.2 slots already and don't want extra heat from mechanical harddrives in my system. TLC has more write life and the drive maintains triple digit write speeds even close to full, my QLC drives can dive down to double digits when stressed that far, even the intel 670p's which have tested my patience. Tested with jm_id it has a maxio MAS1102 controller and 176 layer 1500 p/e micron nand, good stuff. The chinese review site pceva stress tested it to 1257.70TB, well beyond its internal set tbw, before they ended their test so it should last well, that being said there are some budget corners cut. It has a plastic case, very light, and the smart data is sparse. Now using 4 of these for mirrored bulk storage as they have the best price to performance ratio out there for a dramless storage drive. For AAA games or o/s a dram based drive like the samsung evo would be better but those cost much more, but I mostly use these for my media collection and such this drive works more than fine.

[Windows 11 Pro] The good thing about this solution is having it on a USB drive, which makes it very convenient.
