2.5 Sata Hdd Enclosure

[Black] I had been looking for a reasonable priced enclosure for a 2.5 SATA drive to use as a backup drive for my laptop. This one fits the bill! Kind of odd that it has a USBA connector, but that doesn't affect its operation.

[1x 3.5" ] The SATA drive went into the enclosure smoothly and is working great.

[12 VDC] This device worked perfectly for cloning my SATA HDD & SSD drives.

[3x Fans] Im buying as soon as they become available a Mac Studio Ultra but I wanted to be ready with the storage. Today I still use a Mac Pro 11 years old with internal disks. It's a fast machine but after seeing what my Macbook Air can do with video compression I decided that is time to switch. My main concern was the noise, I do have an older SATA box from OWC that I use for backup but I shut it down when is not in use due to the noise. Well, this new Thunderbay 8 is just whispering. A very well designed product, the fan probably has variable speed and my WD HDD don't make too much noise even though they are enterprise specs. One of the RAID is 3 14TB in RAID zero configuration (soft ) and I get about 750/800 MB/s , faster than when I had them installed in my old Mac Pro since SATA there was just 3Gbps . Silent fast, not too expensive . Nothing beat this. Also, everything was plug & play. I just moved my HDD from my Mac Pro to this box and they appeared on my Mac Air when I plugged the TB cable in. My only complain is the black color, it's nice but why black? This should have been the same color like the Macs are. At least the mainstream silver. Second minor complain the cable in the box is very short. Buy a longer cable when you buy the box unless your connected device is really next to this box.

[2.25 lb] SFF computer from many brands only come with a single SATA power connector and this allows using the one SATA power for 2 HDD/SSD. Easy to use and the hot-swap insert and removal functions as expected.

[1x HDMI] I am a freelance DIT, and HGST is the only SATA HDD drive that I would buy. Based on my experience, I believe it is the best enterprise drive on the market. When Western Digital aquired HGST, I was concerned that the HGST and G-Technology brand might suffer. But based on the new products from each, and continued reliability, I think the partnership has been beneficial for WD and HGST (and G-Technology).

[Bottom] This case has plenty of space and was easy to build in. Routing a SATA cable to a 3.5” HDD was the most difficult part of this build but eventually I got it figured out. The black with glass and wood looks great too.

[0.81 lb] This is simply an excellent value to enable converting a 3.5 inch HDD to a 2.5 inch SDD.

[500 GB] Great improvement for any computer using either a 1TB 3.5 HDD or 2.5 HDD or smaller capacity.

[CE, FCC, BSMI] This is my second Transcend 2.5 enclosure. The first I've had for more than 2 years and it's been working great thus far. If I need another, I'll definitely be buying another one of these through B&H!
