[Black] I started with the Micro, but soon desired some of the features found in this shotgun mic. I felt this version was a good balance between the micro and the more expensive NTG/Pro versions. I love the improved shockmount, a single mount is annoying since the mic bounces a lot with one mount. I also dig how versatile this mic is. I can use it on my cams or plug it into my computer for voiceovers. The pickup is much improved over the Micro, sound is more full, and overall I wish I had just started with this mic instead. It handles close and somewhat far audio pickup well, fulfilling pretty much all of my nearfield audio needs. I mostly use the 3.5mm input, but the USB output offers more granular control via RodeCentral. I like that's powered by USB/3.5mm, battery based mic's run the risk of running out at inopportune times. The only con is that I wish they'd provided the nicer coiled 3.5mm cable found in the Micro, but the supplied cable is fine.

Bought 2 of these cables with the intent to chop in half and solder the DIN connector of an Ultrasync One stock cable to make a direct timecode cable for Sony FX-3/30 cameras. With a little continuity test, solder, and heat shrink it works perfectly. These micro USB Multi connectors are longer with more pins than regular micro USB. Internal wires: Red=3.5mm Tip=Timecode, Yellow and Black=3.5mm Ring and Sleeve=Ground. Use this info as you like!

[7 Hours] I bought a USB-C monitor with terrible, weak built-in speakers and no audio output jack. Having to plug a 3.5mm speaker cable directly into my MacBook would have ruined the One-Cable setup that I purchased the monitor for in the first place. These speakers were the perfect solution. The monitor does have a built in hub with available USB type A inputs. Plug these little guys into one of those, adjust the MacBook settings to default to external USB speakers when available and I have the desktop setup I was looking for. These speakers receive both power and audio inputs through a USB cable. No need for a 3.5mm or bluetooth connection. They are by no standard powerful, or dynamic. They are however functional and allow me to hear Youtube Videos and my Video calls with no issues. The built in monitor speakers couldn't even do that. They are also smaller than you would expect, so the don't require too much real estate on crowded desks. And they don't really seem to have any equivalent products in the market competing with them. Very please with the results.

[0.03 lb] Needed this for charging from a micro-USB cable. Works great for that.

I have another review that I wrote about this mic, but B&H's website doesn't appear to let me update that review. I've now been using this mic almost daily for over a year. The audio is crisp and clear, background noise is kept to a minimum, and people on the other end of the meeting/phone call give compliments on the detail that this mic captures. I used to use a condenser mic, but that also had the annoying feature of picking up a lot of 60Hz hum. This mic doesn't do that and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the room either. For the person who mentioned they couldn't fit it in a shockmount, it has one internally. That is why the mic is the size that it is. For those complaining about the USB port, mine hasn't had any issues. I accidentally bent the micro usb connector on the cheap cable they shipped with it and the mic survived just fine. The cable, on the other hand, was useless after that. I solved this problem by finding a 90 degree USB adapter so that the connector isn't pointing straight out the back of the mic. It now sits mostly flush and swiveling the mic is more likely to cause the adapter to disconnect at the other end. If your laptop, like mine, is usb-c only, don't try to buy long usb-c to usb-c cables. They are crazy expensive. Instead, try to buy a usb-c to mini or micro usb-b cable. They are much cheaper. My setup is usb-c to micro usb (10 feet), then an adapter from micro-usb to usb-c (1 inch), and then finally a short usb-c to 90 degree micro-usb adapter (6 inches).

[0.085 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Belkin's Rockstar 3.5mm Audio + USB-C adapter performs admirably by delivering crystal clear audio quality simultaneously with up to 60W of pass-through charging. The form factor is compact and a great addition to any travel kit.

[0.085 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Belkin - 3.5mm Audio + USB-C™ Charge Adapter. I've been using this product for the past month and it is a wonderful addition to my chargers. I've used this to connect one end to a radio to listen to music while other end is being charged.

[Low Cut/HPF] It's a different concept as it requires no batteries, it's powered from the camera. Why is this important. Well, for me two reasons, the first being you cannot screw-up and forget to turn it on, its on when mounted on the camera. The second reason, if this is an occasional use mic batteries are a pain, you find yourself thinking, are they fresh, maybe they're dead or will they last the recording session? No issues with this mic, if your camera's rolling then the mic is working - as it should be. It may not be the best mic you can buy, but (and its a big but) if you attach this mic to your SONY you will get very decent audio most every time, it's pretty much immune to pilot error and therefore it has its proper place in my kit (as does the auto exposure setting on my mode dial). Size-wise, it's tiny. You could leave it in your pocket for those just-in-case moments. As with all these on-camera mics (or on-camera flash) I'd say being within 6-10 feet is the optimal working distance. My only complaint, even when mounted on a SONY smart-shoe equipped camera you still have to plug-in the 3.5mm cable to access the manual audio levels feature on the camera. Without the 3.5mm cable this mic is in full-auto mode, but it does appear to do a very good job is noisy environments! So to sum it up, if I were to take one mic out on a road-trip, I'd take this one, it'll just work. Fancy mics are obviously better, but how many times have you heard a video guy say, well the audio isn't too good in the clip, I didn't have the levels set properly -- no issues here (without the 3.5mm cable), you'll be in full auto and in the ball park. KISS!

[Yes] Works great--this cable allows you to convert a male 1/4 stereo jack to a 3.5 mm--I use it to go from an audio mixer to a computer input.
