[Carbon Fiber] The Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod with a 410 Junior Geared Head exceeded my expectations. I am a Forensic Engineer and have used the tripod and head in my lab. The precision alignments were just what I needed. I have use the tripod and head on a field assignment and again exceeded my expectations. It is light weight and stable and can be easily transported.

[Yes] I bought this to replace a Manfrotto 410 geared head. The Manfrotto is a great deal for what it does but in comparing these 2 units the Arca Swiss makes the Manfrotto look like a rough cast piece of metal. The Arca Swiss is a joy to use. You can level up a camera in an instant. My only gripe is when using this in vertical mode it's not as convenient. This head is an amazing piece of equipment and I highly recommend it. How did I not know about this sooner?

[Twist Lock] This has been my everyday tripod for the past two years for architectural and cityscape shots in NYC. I have been using it with a Manfrotto 410 Junior Gear Head and a Nikon d850. It's been simply wonderful. Like others, I had some trouble at first with the feet falling off, as I was unscrewing them when extending the legs, but that problem went away as I got used to the tripod. It's a great piece of gear.

[4.685 lb] After messing around with my ball head manfrotto tripod attempting to shoot city scenes during the blue light hour I decided to replace the ball with a gear head. The control you get with a gear head over a ball is like night and day, especially when shooting a 70-200mm Tamron f 2.8 in a portrait orientation, (it's just about impossible to get an accurate alignment with a ball). The real question was which head should I get, the lighter 410 or the much bigger 405. Throughout my photographic history I’ve weighed price vs value constantly - usually opting for the cheaper option and usually regretting it. Learning from my lessons of the past, and after reading other reviews where issues with the gears were cropping up in the 410 I bit the bullet and went with the 405. Let's face it the 410 is about 1/2 the cost of the 405, but my logic was if I got the 410 and after a year or so started having problems with it, I would regret not having bought the 405 and most likely would just end up buying the 405 anyway - ending up paying 1/3 more than if I'd just bought the 405 to begin with. I know convoluted logic. In any case, it arrived yesterday and what a piece of engineering. Its controls are intuitive, smooth and accurate. It handles the D750 & Tamron 70-200m effortlessly. It’s a solid platform for doing long exposures – extremely accurate. I have a hand full of shots I am going to take again now that I have this piece of equipment because I’ll be able to support the camera & lens in a way the ball head would never allow, giving me the freedom of positioning the camera differently than in the past. If you’re going through the same turmoil deciding which to choose as I did, just buy it. Once you’ve spent the extra money, you’ll forget all about that, and you’ll have a great professional piece of equipment that will last as long as you’re taking pictures.

[Ball Head] The Manfrotto 494 ball head is typical for the brand. construction and controls very solid. the 200PL_pro plate is slightly different from the other 200 plates I own. but they all fit one & other's clamps. Using this head on Induro AT114 tripod to hold Zoom H6 audio recorder. works perfect- super solid with the light weight & cables running & out. If one owns manfrotto devices, one knows the quality level. every manfrotto device I use works as good as the day it came out of the box and it looks cooler worn in used. etc
