[95 mm to 105 mm] No real downside. It does what it is made to do and that is to allow a 58mm filter to attach to a 52mm lens

[Solid ND] The Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder Adapter Ring (52mm) does what I need it to do. I may have to buy another.

[0.18 lb] Nice glass from Nikon ,does not vignettes on most 52mm filter size Nikon lenses ,if your lens glass is large better to use 62mm with a B+W step up ring. Works fine on 50mm 1.4 AF-D ,55mm 2.8 AI-s ,24mm 2.8 AF-D ,35mm F1.8 AF-S G DX Works best on scattered clouds showing some blue sky patches. Shoot in RAW for getting more details ,this filter helps a lot for in camera touch up.

[Aluminum] I initially started using this filter to correct the excessive blue rendition of Fuji FP-100C when shot in shadow with my Polaroid pack film cameras. I loved the improved tonal rendition that I bought this 52mm filter for my Nikon SLR lenses. It gives the same great improvement in rendition in images shot in the shade, especially with a film such as Provia 100F, which tends towards bluish. There is a multicoated version and this uncoated version of the 52mm 812 filter. So far, this uncoated version is just fine, as most of my use of it is in shade or dappled sunlight. However, if you want to make sure that filter reflections are not an issue, then go for the multicoated version.

[58 mm] The Chiaro Pro 52mm 99-UVBTS Brass UV Filter and the Chiaro brand provide great protection for the price.
