2/3 of a stop is a good value for my needs. the full stop was too much and 1/3 not enough at all. 5 |

[800] Not sure you have any other choice for film for the Instax Mini, this film works good as expected. 5 |

[Rectangle] I own or have owned every light known to man. (ok, slight exaggeration). I currently have the Gemini Soft, Gemini Hard. and Kino Freestyle LEDs of a variety of sizes. Never mind Apurtures and Nanlites plus a few of them lightweight flexible led panels. But when I need a fast and simple setup, I always got back to these Astra Softs. And when I look at the image, I wonder why I went and bought all those other expensive fixtures. Just today I shot a multicamera interview for ABC's new show Impact with the U.S Attorney investigating the Matthew Perry case and because going thru security was so complicated and time was of essence, I chose to bring these lights instead. I loved the picture to much I wondered to myself why I keep buying these way more expensive fancy lights. And the beauty of these is that I can fly them with a micro 150 battery and because I rarely have to turn them up all the way, they will last the length of some of these long interviews no problem. I did notice on this thread some folks complaining about these lights failing them, and have heard similar complaints from other Astras too. I have never had any issues with these or my other Astras, but that's likely because I read the instructions that clearly state you should dim the lights all the way down before you turn them on, wait until the flashing green light stops flashing, and then dim up at your heart's desire. And always before I turn them off, I dim them down all the way, as not to forget. That might be the secret. I see people using them wrong all over the place. 5 |

[1 ms] Works as advertised! Portable, flashing lights with a high squeal! Just pull out the pin if one has to do small piece of mind! Better to have it than not! Safety with it! 5 |

[7.9" / 20 cm] I was in search of an Instax camera as a creative outlet and to put a retro spin on my photography hobby. I'd looked at the popular Fuji Instax line of cameras, and even had a Mini 90's in a cart, ready to purchase... but I kept having one nagging question in the back of my mind that kept me from pulling the trigger. This is pretty automatic, and you're stuck at F/12.7. Is this going to really give me the creative control I'm looking for, or would this be better for parties and grabbing quick-memories? Well, I'm not a teenager. I don't really go to too many parties, and the novelty to my friends of an instant photo is a great for sharing, but it doesn't really fulfill my personal goals. However... F/5.7 for lower light and/or shallow depth of field and Manual Focus, coupled with shooting a kind of camera that I'd never shot before? THAT sounds more like what I was looking for! First up... it's expensive. You could buy a Fuji Mini 90, a Fuji 300 wide, a Fuji SP-1 Instax Printer, AND more than 100 shots of film for less than you can buy this one camera by itself... and it doesn't even include a neck strap. That's straight-up daunting, if I'm being honest. On that fact alone, I couldn't recommend this camera for someone who just wants to shoot the Instax Mini format for fun. It took me a week to really mull that over. Am I glad I made the decision I did? Absolutely. This camera has taught me to slow down, compose, and consider. Each shot matters, so I care and think more on every one. This camera WILL take more skill/time and trial/error to get quick shots in focus than other automatic options. Vignetting occurs at high aperture settings. I'm running out of characters B&H will let me use, so let's wrap up this up with pros/cons: Pros: Manual Focus, f 5.6, glass lenses, fun bonus aperture (mine was a clover!), hidden flash, optional ND filters, close up filters, and lens hood Cons: Manual Focus, expensive, light-meter not very dependable in bright light 5 |
