Apple Macbook Pro Ssd Hard Drive

[Black] Used it to clone my dad's 500GB MacBook Pro hard drive to a 500GB Samsung SSD. Removed the old hard drive, placed both in the dock and presto! Worked perfectly. Took an hour and a half for the whole job. I also purchased the little tool kit that came up when I put the hard drive in the cart. Now the computer is fast again.

[512 GB] This is a great way to expand the SSD on my Macbook Pro and much cheaper than getting a larger drive.

[250 GB] I installed this SSD in a mid-2012 Macbook Pro 13" version 9,2 model. Wow! I became a big fan of SSD drives with my new iMac and the MacBook was looking so pokey in comparison. Now my MacBook has new life, amazingly faster performance. It's the best speed upgrade I have ever experienced with a product. I'm running High Sierra on this book with no glitches. Has 16 gb ram. I highly recommend this especially because new Macbooks are so pricey and Apple has taken away ports I use in the new models, such as Ethernet, DVD drive, Firewire. It's a new machine again. Just be aware you will want to partition the drive with the new Apple APFS as it will not work with GUID. I then migrated my software with Apple migration assistant with only minor glitches to some software icons. Those I fixed by booting in safe mode, then back to normal mode.

I purchased this rugged SSD Pro by LaCie for my daughter who purchased a MacBook Pro. I moved the files off the SSD then used Disk Utililty to format and partition the drive for Time Machine and Manual backups. Compared to her old SSD USB 2.0 external drive, the copy speed of the LaCie SSD was fast. It was only a few minutes and all files were copied over. She will continue to use the Rugged SSD for her backup files.

[Full-Stop] I purchased this to make an external boot drive for my 2015 MacBook Pro. This device is probably the fastest way to add external storage to my machine since the Thunderbolt 2 ports are far faster than the USB3 ports. Since this Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 enclosure is self-powered, you can use the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter in reverse, making full use of the MacBook's Thunderbolt 2 port and getting super fast transfer speeds, making it suitable for use as a boot drive. I don't have any benchmark utilities, but I copied a large VMware image from the internal Apple SSD to an external 2TB FireCuda 530 and saw an Activity Monitor peak write speed of 1.6GB/sec, which is super fast. The case gets a little warm, but that means that it is effectively sinking heat from the M2 drive. I used this to successfully build and test a system upgrade to Mojave, and will continue to use this to occasionally run modern OS versions that I don't want to permanently upgrade to due to software compatibility issues with old apps I still need to run. Right now, it's Velcro'ed to the laptop lid and holds a 1TB drive waiting to test Catalina, so I can see which apps break before deciding if I want to take the plunge. All in all, it's perfect as an external drive for my older MacBook Pro, it's well priced, and extremely well constructed. I'll continue to use it for the rest of the life of this machine, and it'll still be useful if I upgrade to a more modern machine later.

[USB-C Male] At first I bought a cheaper drive that started with R because disk players have been around for a long time and I didn’t see a reason to pay more just for a fancy housing that match my Mac. However….the no name brand would always stall without ripping any songs to Apple Music. I tried it on 3 different Macs. A Mac Studio M1, MacBook Pro M2 and an older MacBook Pro with an Intel chip in it. Nope wouldn’t work on any of them. So I tried it on a Windows machine with iTunes installed and it worked with no issues. Thinking it was a bug in the Apple software I called Apple and got them involved. I spend weeks with them and sent many data files to their engineers and I still haven’t received a solution from Apple. So I found this Apple SuperDrive at B&H and figured I’d give it a try, well guess what? It works perfectly with any hiccups. I’m not sure if Apple is still making this drive so if you can still get one do it soon.

[Aluminum] Amazing portable hard drive. Super fast. I use it on MacBook Pro retina. The speeds are great. Transfers large files (7gb+) and it's great. I know from friends Glyph has amazing customer service too so that's great to know.

[Bus Powered] I'm so happy I purchased it. I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro as well as my iMac . It was very essential that I upgraded my external hard drive to be compatible with the USB-C type connections. The difference in upload and download speeds are unmatched. It makes the transferring of files a breeze. Definitely recommend this brand. The durable built and feel of the hard drive puts me at ease knowing that all my data will be safe and secure. 10/10!
