Atn Hd Spotting Scope Day Night Vision

[4x] Had an issue the second day of owning the scope but ATN was on top of it even on a Sunday night. They had a new one to me Tuesday afternoon. The new scope has been working fine.

[50 mm] use it for aircraft spotting in the day and night

[-3.0 to +2.0] Make no mistake. This scope is a big 56mm and a bit heavy but the payoff is a huge, bright view. I mostly hunt hog and coyote during twilight and night. I'd say this is probably not the scope you want if you can only hunt during the day but if you can legally hunt at night this scope is a significant improvement over a 40mm or even a 50mm scope. It's not gen 3 night vision but if there is some moon or sky glow it's quite effective.This illuminated reticle is understated and very effective at precise shooting or longer ranges. During the day with a light background you don't really notice that it's illuminated but against a dark target the glowing dot marks the center of your cross hairs. As the light fades the fiber optic automatically adjusts the dot's brightness so well that I don't understand why they made it adjustable. At night the dot gently glows bright enough to be clearly visible but not enough to hurt your night vision. I am still amazed that the illumination works so perfectly without adjustment, no on/off and no batteries.There is noticeable chromatic aberration around the perimeter but the image is sharp in the center and it is very noticeably brighter than my 40mm and 50mm Nikon Buckmasters and 50mm Redfield scopes.

[50 mm] The ATN x-sight LTV performs well. Video is crisp and clear. Night vision distance would probably improved with larger infrared light. Easy to sight in. Works well.

[Binocular] This is by far the best binox I have ever purchased. The ATN Binox's abilities in day and night operation are simply OUTSTANDING.

[2.46 oz (70 g)] I purchased this arca style plate for my Vortex Razor HD Spotting scope. Although it has an arca foot, I wanted stops to prevent my scope from sliding out of the arca head on my tripod should the screw clamp loosen on my birding treks. This did the trick. It is well made like other Sunway photo products I am using,

[4 mm] I am a world ranking bird lister who has been vidio digiscoping birds for about 5 years now. I have found a unique way of attaching a digital HD video camcorder to a spotting scope. The key is to get the camcorder as close as possible to the scope eye piece without touching! I remove the lens hood to my camcorder and then attach the 37-52 step-up ring to the filter ring on the camcorder. Then I have put together a cylinder of 52-55mm step-up rings attached to a 55-52mm step-down rings in order to make a nice 2 inch 52mm cylinder that fits over the eye piece of my scope. In this way, my camcorder is fixed very nicely on the scope for me to take video. When I am not taking HD video, I can remove the camcorder and ring cylinder in a second in order to just use the spotting scope to look at birds!
