Best Recording Studio Headphone Amp

[4-Channel] It's been a few years since being in need of a new headphone amp. I've owned an older version of a Rolls headphone amp and I really liked it for my professional recording studio... so much so that I bought 4 of them for all my sound rooms. It's been several years since I left the recording industry but over the last year I've been podcasting with some friends of mine and I'm getting my new (tiny) home studio up while upgrading equipment when I have the extra cash to do so. I ran across this beauty that has everything I need, plus more! This is a major step up from the ones I owned in the early 90's. The biggest plus and difference is being able to use other 1/4 or 1/8 jack on the front. It saves me from making sure I have the correct adapter if someone brings his or her own headphones or earbuds. It also has the LINK/JOIN capability of which I have used on previous models and comes in super handy if daisy chaining more than one box together. Works in either mono or stereo. You can't pan but that's not really the purpose for which this was designed. If you need more individual control as opposed to a stereo or mono headphone signal, I'd suggest buying a small 4 channel mixer. It's quiet and discrete, I don't hear any extra added component hum or buzz even when linking two or more boxes. It's not having to drive a bunch of wattage so the unit itself doesn't radiate any measurable heat to the touch. My signal chain: I have my Soundcraft Signature 12MTK headphone out (stereo) TRS 1/4 to 1/4 split L/R into the headphone amp. I drive the Soundcraft headphone out gain about three-quarters to full. The headphone amp takes care of the rest of the gain. No hesitation in purchasing another one of these. No hesitation in recommending this headphone amp to others. I've owned other and less expensive headphone amps but none of them have all the functionality and solid workhorse longevity as the Roll RA53B.

[4-Channel] We have a home recording studio and on ocassion we need to provide mix monitoring to more than the 2 headphone outs available on our audio interface. This little headphone amp is exactly what we needed. I was surprised by the quality and power of this little headphone amp.

[Download] It does what it's supposed to, a nice lil' headphone amp for home recording. As with most Presonus gear... good construction/design, quality components and great pricing. Separate monitor level and mute plus mono switch nice touches. So are the 1/3 rack space size and pre-threaded bottom plate for mounting. Relatively clean and powerful.

[≥ 98 dB ] We're a voice-over studio and it helps to have a clean headphone feed...and this little amp shines. It was a rocky start as the first one arrived with no left channel and a terrible hum. A call to B&H and a replacement arrived quickly. The second one is low-noise, has plenty of power, and the price is right.

[2 RU] Compact yet powerful in an inexpensive 4 channel headphone amp!!! Recommend for any home or professional studio.

[-110 dBu ] I use this in a small home studio. This is a strong headphone amp with many features including support for two headphones per channel. VU meters for each channel including input. Seems a bit fragile, but no problems for me with use. Definitely a good value with good features. Headroom is excellent and output is very strong.

[Output, Peak] Needed a headphone amp for home studio. This is the only one on the market that handles every impedance from 8 to 1000 ohms-- critical if one is mixing headphone types. Most phones today are 50 to 60 ohm... too low for other amps. Plenty of output channels too.

[25 Ohms] Best value in a quality headphone.

I purchased this headphone amplifier for my recording studio use. I used Personus HP60 and Behringer HA8000. Both supplied insufficient power to the headphones when musicians play their instruments. This ART amplifier drives Beyerdynamic DT-880-pro-250 well. Knob layouts are well thought and the amplifier can be tweaked �without requiring too much attentions. The circuit diagram, which is printed on the top of the unit, gives a great help.
