[Canon EF-M] Use it for wedding photography to give that unique look for certain pics. Decided to purchase this lens rather than the new 8-15 for 2 reasons...f2.8 and price. I am very pleased. AF is a little noisy, but that's expected for a lens that was made back in late 1980's. Perfect for 5d mark ii. On my 1d mark iv, it still has that edgy wide look...but on full-frame, you get those fishy pics.

[1 TB] Doing wedding photography, it’s fast enough, certainly reliable.

[Aluminum] I Shoot real estate in additional to wedding photography. I had bought the Canon 16-35 L F4 on recommendation for real estate and let me tell you that lens is garbage. It had flares, ton of them. I sold it and bought the Tamron. This is probably the best real estate lens so far. I have used a few from Sony and Fuji and the Tamron excels all of them for me. Sharpness and image quality are superb.

[Autofocus] I purchased this lens for wedding photography. I must say I had the urge to sell it a few times but I'm glad I didn't. The more I used this lens at weddings, the more I loved it. This lens takes time getting used to. You must have a professional body to have the best AF system, IMHO. The images that come out of this lens are AMAZING! The oval-like bokeh and 3D rendering is just phenomenal. However, if you're in a market for only ONE portrait lens, get the 85mm f/1.4G at this price. Or better yet, save money and get the best value for the money lens- the 85mm f/1.8G. The reason why I don't own an 85mm is because I also own a 70-200VRII which complements my 58mm f/1.4G better than the 85mm f/1.4G would. Overall- awesome lens!!

[0.425 lb] I bought the lens kit for for 5 years and it is still my must bring item during my wedding photography career. It shows ultimate convenience when I have to change the lens within 10sec. strongly recommend this item becoz it is underated

[Autofocus] I do some wedding photography on the side, and have always struggled with the detail shots (rings, etc.) -- even with my L glass. After doing some research on macro lenses, and learning that this lens also had portrait potential, I rented it for a weekend, and then immediately purchased it thereafter. There is very little editing to be done on photos shot with this lens, and the detail is crazy sharp -- so much so that I could not see the reason to purchase the IS. If you have enough light, you will be good to go! I took one super sharp photo after another of my 8-month old (and very active) nephew on a sunny day in the shade on an undulating boat. This was my first -- and favorite -- shot of the day. Processing included very minor skin smoothing and a saturation of the blues only. I highly recommend this lens!

[Bayonet] I picked this lens up to complement my setup for wedding photography. Particularly, I was interested in the wide-aperture and lightness of this lens. I picked the f/1.8 over the f/1.4 for the lens stabilization which is critical for the handheld video I occasionally do on hybrid shoots (for a much more in-depth review for weddings, check out Taylor Jacksons review on YouTube). The build quality is wonderful and feels as good as my much more expensive Canon L glass. The size is wonderful for a small kit setup. The only downsize I have found is that the chromatic aberration wide-open can be a bit high with a bright background but that hasn't caused any real world issue while shooting.
