[5.4" / 13.6 cm] I bought this clip on mic to use with my Tenor and Alto sax. I was originally using a beta 87 on a stand, so at first I was worried about considerable quality loss: not so! I even use it with the cheaper shure pgx wireless system and it sounds great! I am gonna have to buy another one soon to keep them ready on both saxes instead of switching....I should have bought this years ago.

[Yes] I play tenor sax and wished I saw a review like this. The harmony portion is based on singer and key of c instruments. Just add two flats to music for Bb instruments in my case and diel in new key for all harmony presets including harmony pedal and it will be spot on. People love the effects it produces. I still have to do my part.

[Cardioid] A friend was looking for a mic to use on his tenor sax, so we spent an afternoon trying out a bunch of mics I had around the studio. Surprisingly the 545SD made it all the way through to the final round (along with a few mics youd probably expect). Id say the 545SD in my experience is a bit brighter than the SM-57. Whereas the SM-57 can sometimes sound a bit tubby or honky on some instruments, the 545SDs tone works well when a slightly bright, clean tone is desired.

[1 User] I've worked with many saxophone players and I played woodwind instruments. Not saying that I am an expert but I do have some experience with wind instruments. I am keyboardists with years of working with sampled saxophones. The samples have become better over the years but SWAM physical modeling is superior for duplicating the nuances and articulations of a real sax player. The only weak link is me. I need to think sax and not keyboardist when I use the SWAM plugin. My wife is a musician and when I would try to emulate a sax she would say 'that doesn't sound real'. Then I let her listen to a song with the SWAM Sax she said 'WOW, that's not you you're trying to fool me'. You won't be sorry with the SWAM Sax Virtual Instrument.

[8 x 5.5 x 0.3"] Super sturdy, industrially cool, will last forever. Fits my Low A bari just fine, but is adjustable if you need it a little shorter for Bb. The alto/tenor attachment works well, just like the separate alto/tenor stand, which I also have (with a soprano peg). I love that I now need only two stands for four saxophones! Only suggestion - my alto/tenor stand came with an attractive yellow bag to store the case when not in use. Would have been nice to have a similar bag for this bari stand; instead I only have the box it came in.

[Solid-State] This is a nice, good-sounding mic; I have used it primarily for bass and tenor vocals so far. It has a very strong Figure-8 polar pattern, and the blue color is a bit more purple-grey than most pictures suggest. The included shock mount works well, and includes extra elastic and an additional screw thread adapter. My only (and minor) quibble is that the case has no easy place to stow the user manual; this is hardly a problem.

[6.35 lb] Awesome product.  super strong, sturdy, and sets up in seconds.  Holds alto or tenor saxes securely.  The brace that touches the lower part of the bell is adjustable up/down to accommodate alto/tenor and to enable you to avoid hitting any of the big tone holes on that part of the horn.  Also accommodates a peg for a clarinet or flute (sold separately - or you can buy a different model that comes with the peg).

[IR] Great quality sound, easy setup and use. Doesn't get in the way. Easy to move between my tenor and alto without any wires hanging anywhere. Compared the sound to DPA 4099, which I thought lacked a little bit of the body of the tenor sax sound. Returned that and kept the AMT. seems like this is the best. Full wireless and no body pack is great, but you do have the transmitter on your bell which some may not like the look of. It's light though, so you don't fee it or notice.
