[Solid-State] When you're dealing with non-public speakers standing before the microphone, a simple control to maintain proper placement of the mic's pickup pattern is so valuable and this simply designed gooseneck manages the podium with ease, all while minimizing it's physical presence in the space. Plus... it's a Shure!!

[Plug-In Power] One of the concerns public speakers face is the quality of the A/V equipment. Can you hear me now? is not simply the Verizon slogan. If your lavalier microphone or headworn microphone is not properly placed, you may wonder if people can hear you. The HSP4 is a beautifully formed headworn microphone that is securely placed, eliminating one's concern with regard to whether or not the audience can hear you based on the microphone placement. If you can afford this microphone--it is a bit expensive--it is well-worth the money. What may be a detour, however, is the color of the microphone versus the color of one's skin. As an African-American, I knew the tan Sennheiser would not be suitable. My desire was to have the microphone blend in to my skin tone as much as possible. The black Sennheiser (HSP4) seemed to be my only option. It actually may stick out more than the tan.

[Cardioid] This microphone does it all very well. I have used mine for over a decade for use with computer speech recognition, ham radio, public address, vocal music performance, and general speech recording. I am a microphone junkie, with many other quality microphones and this one does it all well. Solid feel with enough weight and ballast for hand-held use, with a rich, expensive-looking, extremely durable finish. Money well spent. TT

[5 V] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] excellent microphone. No disturbance at all and we use it in a pretty public setting with some background noise.

[Aluminum] If you need an inexpensive microphone for voice recordings or public address, this microphone can meet your needs. Its put together in a sturdy metal shell. The soldering on the wires is not very good, and the wires are very thin. There is no transformer, so it does not have true balanced output. But for the money, it rocks! I call it a disposable microphone. If your mic users tend to drop mics or walk off with them, this mic is a good choice because you wont be out much money! B&H service was fast and the shipping time was reasonable.

[Beige ] Needed to get a mic in position at a difficult public location, this arm did the job wonderfully and took care of the microphone issues that we were having. The microphone is now in just the right place and no one needs to mess with it.
