[Plug-In Power] I normally use my MixPre 6 II as my primary recorder for violin, cello, and other musical instruments. However, setting up the MixPre is always a hassle, and I don't like how it has to be powered. When something requires too much time and effort, there's a tendency to hesitate in using it. Since getting this recorder, I can start my recordings within a matter of seconds (literally). I can easily bring it anywhere, and it has become my preferred device for sound recording. The sound quality with the built-in mic is excellent, comparable to the MixPre II (of course depending on the mic you use). It is better than the Zoom H6 I used to own, especially for recording musical instruments. I also have the DJI MIC 2, which is excellent for voice and highly portable. However, when it comes to recording musical instruments, it falls short compared to the PCM-A10.

[Shoulder Straps] I ordered these to monitor musical instruments recording and to watch music videos and movies on my laptop. The clarity and the power of the iLouds are outstanding. I added a subwoofer (usually not needed) to reinforce the low frequencies and I now feel like I have a home theater system. I highly recommend them.

To me it's the best thing ever to run software release in 2006 on a 2012 computer, because it just runs great. And the sounds are simply breathtaking. Even the concert piano is mind blowing, really lending itself for classical piano playing in real time from my digital piano keyboard. And the price could not be better with B&H special discount offers. I took advantage of the discount, and I am a very happy camper now. Oh, and the authorization process with iLok is very good. I installed MOTU Symphonic Instruments on two computers, and to run it, I simply insert the iLok USB dongle, and voila. It's simply great.

I will be using this for recording vocals, instruments (bass, trumpet, guitar, sax) and synth (strings, piano, etc.). Having tried it on synth samples thus far, it adds a mellowing and pleasing analog feel to the recording quality. Excellent manufacturing and presentation.
