Canon 10X42 L Image Stabilization Waterproof Binoculars

[0.75 lb] Bought for a field case for Canon 10x42 Image Stabilizing binoculars. Perfect for that purpose - good size to hold binoculars, light weight, strong and water protection (with pull out cover).

[Schmidt-Pechan] The optical quality is second to none. Ergonomics are amazing, the difference is evident even when compared to other high-end binoculars from Zeiss. The binocular shake while glassing is so well dampened by the distribution of the weight towards the eye that for the 10x42 the image is less shaky than high-quality 8x42 binoculars. The field of view for this 10x is almost as wide as your average 8x binoculars and it focuses down to about 5 ft in front of you. The model is designed mainly for bird watching and nature observation, however, I use it for other purposes also (on a boat, for example) with no issues whatsoever. The image is highly corrected and flattened, but unlike other high-end binoculars, this one doesn't give me a headache or vertigo after I use them for a day. The 10x gives additional reach over the 8X with very little compromise in optical quality and I highly recommend the 10x42 over the 8x42, as the FOV is still plenty wide.

[Porro] The image stabilization is excellent. The optics are very clear and precise. With the stabilization I have been able to take pictures of the moon, through the binoculars with my iPhone.

[2.1 mm] Image stabilizing works wonderfully. Because of the stabilization, I can see more detail than with my Leica 8x32 Ultravids. It is like having the binoculars on a tripod. Although the image quality is not equal to the Leica, it is surprisingly comparable for such an inexpensive pair of binoculars. There is no rain guard provided, but I found the the rain guard for my Leica 8x32s fit perfectly.

[36 mm] Great binoculars. For 12x I can hold these reasonably stable without the image stabilization, but the IS is very welcome feature. My only real complaint is other manufacturers, like Kite, have easier/smarter ways to turn on the IS system. Having to press and hold the button on the Canon binoculars is slightly awkward. Still, these have great optics and are fairly light for the magnification level and IS system. I’d gladly purchase them again.

[3.5 mm] I bought these for my wife for her birthday. These binoculars are terrific! The image stabilization technology works wonderfully. Regular binoculars allow a quick look, but with these, we can linger, search and more greatly appreciate the field of view; birdwatching is a pleasure. One small thing that Canon needs to address: the plastic lens caps will fall off easily. So far we have been very lucky to find them on the ground or on the floor of the car. They will fall off if you shake the binoculars, and I cannot seem to improvise a fix using tapes etc.

[77 mm (Front)] This is a great lens from Canon. Very solidly built and the image stabilization works extremely well. Even though it's an f/4, I'm able to take photos indoors without flash as long as my subject does not move. I've also used it to take short movies with my 7D Mark II and it works extremely well for that purpose. It's a very sharp lens.

[3.4 lb] I highly recommend Celestron 8x42, 10x42 and 12x56 Nature DX Binoculars. I am an astronomer and an experienced binocular user for astronomy, bird and nature watching. I have experience with Zeiss, Swift, Swarovski, Minox, Barska and Celestron binoculars and spotting scopes. The Celestron Nature DX binoculars perform nearly as well as any of the top-of-the-line binoculars, while costing far less. Image brightness, field of view, near-focus distance and overall image quality are excellent. And the tripod mounting is superior to any other. I highly recommend them.
