Canon 24 105 F4 Ii

[83° to 23°] I have owned this lens for four years, using with a A6500. I have seen reviews critical of its sharpness which surprised me. I am primarily a Canon shooter (R5 and R with solid RF L glass) and use the Sony when I seek a lighter weight kit. I felt the need to leave this review, as I wish to share my viewpoint that this lens is an incredible blend of sharpness and portability. About a year ago, I set up a sharpness test with this lens against the following: Sony PZ 18-105 OSS F4, Sony 50mm F1.8, Canon EF 24-105 F4 Mark 2, Canon EF 85 F1.2 (both of these converted with a Metabones adapter) using the a6500 body. Pixel peeping these images in Lightroom, I have to say that the Sony 16-70 F4 hung in there very well with sharpness across the zoom range (even at 70mm against the Canon 24-105) and across the frame. Maybe the lesson learned here is that there is variability across the lens lot and you need to make sure you have a good copy. But I will tell you that if you do have a good copy, this lens provides great results and is such a pleasant experience in terms of weight and portability. It is great.

[Zipper] Small and easy to carry with Canon R6 and 24-105 f4 kit Lense.

[0.02 lb] Worked perfectly for the zoom creep on my EF 24-105 F4 .

[0.14 lb] I used to use Sony 24-105 f4 lens. I am using this lens as my prime now. Image is sharp. The down side is a little too narrow. only 35mm. That would be nice if as least 24mm will be perfect.

[f/4] Feels more like a F4 G-master. Traded my 24-105 F4 OSS for the extra wide angle and slight weight advantage. Was surprised to find out how sharp a zoom in this range can be. Steady shot feature is not missed at all. Very happy with my purchase decision. I must mention that my first copy had a noise issue during large focus change which could not be tolerated for video shoots. This copy is totally quiet.

[5.9 x 5.9 x 2"] I purchased a Sony 24-105 F4 lens without a lens hood. This hood is an exact replacement. Works as advertised.

[Zipper] This is so compact and waterproof zippering, I will hike with it always. Perfectly fits my R6 with a 24-105 f4 lens. Very happy with it.

[55 mm (Front)] I have this and the RF 24 105 f4. I think that this lens is a perfect companion for travel if you don’t mind the aperture. It’s really lightweight and the image quality is excellent. And the price? You can’t go wrong with this lens.

[0.41 lb] Came with my purchase of a sigma 24-105 f4. I've used it to sort my focus, and its improved the image quality.
