[1.5 lb] As a film student, BFA Film - Cinematography - Purchasing the Sony FS-7 was a no brainer. The ergonomics of an ENG style cam? Icing on the cake! The ability to securely mount this little guy? Something to be desired. I'm 6'5 plus some change--the FS-7 was not made with my body size in mind. With the SHAPE baseplate, however, I can put this sucker in a perfectly balanced configuration and get the in your face camera movements and CUs I desired from this camera out of the box. I'm not sure how the other baseplates rank, but what had me sold was the modeling of the plate to the FS-7's more unique footprint. The result: it looks beautiful, feels sturdy as a rock and allows for numerous configurations to fit any shooting style! Only issue seems to be the mounting of non Sony-style tripod mounts. Can't figure out how to attach it directly to a standard arca or manfrotto QR :/

[f/16] I use this lens on my BMPCC, BMPCC4K and my Olympus camera! Stunning images both for cinematography and photography. In the hands of the right person this lens is a pure joy. I own the 17.5mm as well as the 42.5mm. Love them all! Worth every penny and then some...

[6 x 6 x 1.3"] I use this polarizer for outdoor landscape cinematography. When shopping for polarizers, many are quite expensive. This one was a fraction the cost of some competing filters, but very affordable. It's also one of the few polarizers on the market that will fit into a 3mm thick carrier tray, such as the one on my dp 3000 matte box. The filter is effective and has minimal image degradation. I cannot say that I see a visible decrease in image quality with the filter in place. The results are quite interesting, with blue skies deepened in color to the point where they appear as only a fighter pilot at 60,000 feet altitude would see them. They effectively eliminate haze. The filter is also effective at eliminating reflections off windows, allowing the camera to see in. For example, if the camera is mounted on the bonnet of an automobile to shoot the front seat occupants, rotating the filter a bit will make a clean windshield appear invisible. For my type of shooting, it gets the job done with no major compromises.

[Manual Focus] This is not a lens for people who are not practicing professionally. This is for your in the field professional who does photography and cinematography. I am personally using it with the Mavo LF and it is a match made in heaven. I was using the Sigma art and Canon L before upgrading to this lens. You can see the difference with it wide open at 1.4. If it is important to have the perfect image; this is the lens for you. Worth every penny as long as you know you will make your money back after the purchase.

[Yes] I've been using Chimera softboxes for decades for both pro photo and cinematography. I like the versatility of using one softbox for both hot and strobe lights, so I recommend the Video Pro Plus versions which are built to take the heat. They are very portable and mount quickly on dedicated speed rings. The recessed, removable front diffusion material (which is the Plus part) along with the included interior baffle increases its versatility. Since it's recessed, I can control the spill on the background and can easily attach black foil as an additional flag. Nothing in the Chimera line is inexpensive, but everything is exceptionally well made and durable, so it's money well spent if you want it to last for decades like mine have.
