[Aluminum] Bought this for a Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 lens. Is crystal clear and has absolutely zero effect on image quality. It is my walk around lens, and now I don't use a lens cap with it anymore, this filter protects the front element now from any potential scratches, so I am always ready to shoot.

[Bayonet] I bought for my Canon EF 85 mm f/1.8. I wish Canon could sell the lens with the hood.

[Bayonet] Excellent lens, bought it go with my 35. I've had Sony GM, Canon RF, but am in love with the Leica system and sold the rest.

[Ball Head] B&H recommended this to me for hiking. I use it with a Canon EOS R and the EF 300 mm/f4, sometimes with teleconverters, and the RF 70-200 f/2.8. It’s a great choice. It fits into my backpack, has acceptable weight, is quick to deploy, and seems very solid on the ground. I’ve used it with neutral density filters and slow shutter speeds with good results.

[f/5 to 7.1] I am constantly amazed by my Canon R10 and the RF-S lenses for it. This lens shoots like a 300 mm on my full frame Nikon but is a fraction of the weight. I took my R10 to Antartica and was amazed by the image stabilization when shooting Orca whales chasing penguins. I can't wait to see what other lens come from Canon in the RF-S series. Two words: Canon 1DS-R now that would be unbelievable.

[0.145 lb] Review of the ET-77 Hood for the RF 85mm f/2 Macro Lens. Like all of the new RF Series Lens hoods, this one is exceptionally well designed and is well made. It incorporates a reversible 90 deg. bayonet mount with a very positive lock release button. This hood has an overall depth of 53 mm and an outside diameter of 97 mm so provides maximum shielding for a 85 mm FL lens having a full-frame 28.5 deg angle of view. It fits the Canon 85 perfectly either in normal operating position or reversed, mounts smoothly, and solidly locks in position unlike the older EF lens hoods. It is precision constructed of quality-finished plastic and weights 49 grams.. Like most original Canon accessories, it is a high-profit margin add-on. It's a simple piece of molded plastic costing almost exactly $1 per gram compared to the cost of the RF 85 f/2 which is a complex assembly of polished optical glass, advanced electronics, micro-miniature motors and many precision machined metal parts which costs $1.20 per gram. It does provide the intended function very well, but lens hoods are clearly a blatant profit center for Canon. Bottom Line: A near-perfect hood for the RF 85 f/2 that's outrageously over priced by Canon.
