Cd Drive For Samsung Laptop

[Yes] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up the external LG CD/DVD drive because my new laptop doesn't have a drive. I have decent music CD collection and the LG device has allowed me to listen to and copy, my music onto my laptop. It's fast and plays everything well. It's also streamlined and easy to keep on my desk without taking up too much space or getting in the way.

[0.09 lb] My laptop had a 2TB Samsung EVO 970 plus system drive and I bought this WD black to put in a USB enclosure. But before I did, I ran Crystal Disk Mark on the Samsung, cloned the system to this drive and ran it again on this drive. My laptop is only PCI 3 so I wasn't expecting the stated performance, and no surprise it didn't make those numbers. But it did perform a little better than the Samsung and ran a bit cooler also. So I kept this WD black as the system drive and wiped the Samsung and put that one in the USB enclosure. Now it's a few weeks later and so far so good.

[Yes] Great little DVD/CD Drive, I use it with a NUC 11Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro, works great and the attached cable you can't beat it and can't lose it!

[Windows ] Excellent top-of-the-line DVD/CD reader/burner. I own 2 of these drives, and they've both performed flawlessly for years. One is 10+ years old, and I've used well over 1000 CD and DVD discs with it. This LG drive is compatible with every piece of readable and writable media that I've tried (I recommend Verbatim AZO media). This drive works well with every program/app that I've tried on it, including various CD and DVD programs. It has worked with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 - as well as various versions of Linux. I have not used the M-DISC functionality, but I expect it would work fine. PERFECTION is the best word to describe this drive.

[1x HDMI] This item is an inexpensive addition to a new MacBook if you have any peripheral devices. I use it to use a 2T CD drive, hardwired Internet rather than Wi-Fi and a variety of usb drives. It handles all with ease.

[3.6 W (Active)] When I recently purchased a new mini computer to replace my 8 year old desk top tower PC I knew I would have to also purchase an external cd/dvd drive because I am constantly ripping my ever growing cd collection into my computer so I can put the music on a portable 2TB hard drive for my car, which no longer has a cd player. I had purchased a couple of the usual external disc drives that do not fully eject the tray and you have to pull it out by hand and push it back in, which is a totally pain especially since they are so light weight and you also have to hold the unit down with your other hand while you push the tray back in so it won't move around... totally inconvenient for the amount of discs I knew I would be putting in and ejecting out of the drive. Luckily, I found this awesome unit on B&H and have been thrilled with it from the second I plugged it in. It stays exactly where I want it on my desk, smoothly ejects and pulls back in the tray, and has WAY faster read speeds than the cheap flimsy drives I used before purchasing this great device. I knew I wasn't going to need a blu ray drive so I saved a few dollars from buying this unit which is just for, since it won't read blu ray discs. Within a couple of weeks of receiving this I have already been able to rip a few hundred cds from my collection in the short amount of time I get to do this task, and the portable drive for my car is getting filled up fast with the music I enjoy listening to. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and worth every penny.
