[Yes] Locking mechanisms are well thought out. Lifting crank runs smooth under a heavy load. I use these for lifting LED screens.

This is a very lightweight tripod. I carry it in a backpack where minimal weight is essential. It does that job well. I would rate it fine for occasional use where low weight and portability are big considerations. I don't think it would hold up under heavy daily use. It is really very good at the price for what it is.
