[0.5 to 50 mS] This guy is my first foray into ribbons, and so far I've used it with a Cloudlifter CL-1 and an old Mbox2. It sounds great, especially for the price. It's smooth and warm on female vocals and much more flattering/forgiving than the CAD 179 I usually use. (FYI, when I recorded my acoustic jumbo guitar, it was pretty boomy on the lows, but I haven't tried it with other body styles. Another reviewer had good results recording acoustic, so my big assed EJ-200 might just be too much for it.) I'd recommend picking up another xlr cord while you're here if you don't have any extras at home. I had trouble fitting the cord that comes already plugged into this mic into my CL-1, but I easily swapped it out (the cord comes secured onto the mic, so it's just a tiny bit more difficult than simply unplugging the cord and plugging in another - you'll need a small screwdriver).

[14 lb / 6.4 kg] TO be clear, I was sent one of these for my honest and unbiased review..........that being said...there is no reason to pay more. This is constantly on sale at 35, 40 bucks and it is clean and does exactly what it is supposed to do. If only people would get off the cloudlifter bandwagon. The cloudlifter is CRIMINALLY overpriced when you have options like this on the market. And its not JUST this that is cheaper and possible AS good...there are more...but this is my pick considering it is seemingly always available (unlike others) and it is never overpriced. Well done!

[Mono] I absolutely love this combo. The cloudlifter makes the mic sound much better. Great price for the whole kit

[14-Gauge Steel] I needed something to boost the output of my Shure SM-7B, but wanted to know if I could save 50 bucks by buying this instead of the Cloudlifter. Ordered from B&H (came the very next day even though I ordered it late in the afternoon!), and compared it with my friends Cloudlifter at his project studio. Bottom line-the DM-1 had more output, both were very quiet (technically, the DM-1 has a lower noise spec, but both were basically noiseless), and the Cloudlifter had a more hefty build quality (not that the DM-1 feels cheap or anything...the Cloudlifter just had more heft). One other advantage to the DM-1 was that I could simply plug it directly into my SM-7 so I didnt need another cable to hook it up. The DM-1 works great and saved me some money, so Im happy!

[1.27 lb] I swapped out the Shure SM7B for this because it took too much to drive it (I used a Cloudlifter) and the results were inconsistent and just okay, at best. I had read about this mic being similar in build, but a supercardioid condenser mic instead of dynamic. The sound was warm and clear like a dynamic, and no additional switches to fool around with. Just plug in your XLR cable and get to work. I re-recorded all of the podcast episodes (they're short-form) I originally used the SM7B for (none of which sounded the same), and finally got the pro-grade sound and consistency I wanted! I'm absolutely in love with it - you get what you pay for!

[Single-Channel] Great product! Really does boost the signal cleanly, and a great alternative to the Cloudlifter. I chose this over the Cloudlifter mainly coz of the price. With the Cloudlifter, not only is it $50 more, you also have to get additional cables. If there is a downside to this product (and this is more of a nitpick) I would just be a bit careful to not pull on it when adjusting your mic, and maybe some sort of led or visual feedback letting users know that the phantom power is being fed into the device. But really, I would highly recommend this product.
