Double A Battery Headlamp

[0.32 lb] I bought this as a hiking headlamp and just tried it out hiking 3.5 miles down a mountain in the dark. For that purpose, I find it perfect. The throw has a decently wide periphery to show everything on the trail, but a nice concentrated point towards the center in order to illuminate the distance. The low setting is bright enough for me and I can see the trail including trail markers easily up to about 50-60 yards away. The brightest setting is awesome if you want to light up the woods like a car headlamp on high beam, but otherwise unnecessary for my purposes. The ability to charge the battery while it is in the headlamp is very convenient for topping the battery off before use. This metal-bodied headlamp is much heavier than others that I own which are all made of plastic, but I have a big head to begin with and did not notice any discomfort; all other headlamps I own are now going into back-up status. Also, I would not recommend this headlamp for close-up work as the concentration of light in the center of the throw is very bright even on the low setting, unless you want to use the included red filter. Overall, this is the 4th product by Streamlight that I have purchased (the others being various flashlight models) and this brand has become my favorite by far for illuminating my nighttime outdoor activities in the deeply rural area where I live. The products have a rugged high-quality feel with solid metal bodies, glass lenses and well thought-out functional designs.

[3x AAA] I bought my first one for camping on the tundra in the far north of Canada. It was so powerful, I could see at great distances under the open night sky. And then I lost it in my garage. It had become my passive safety net in the urban city because the power is so great, it can blind someone. The ability to have it work as a headlamp or hooked to a belt, is a great feature. My original came with a 2600mAh Li-on battery that lasted a long time and was powerful enough. For my second headlamp, I kept the same power, although you have a choice for a more powerful battery. The Watson 2600mAh battery works fine and fits the original Lanbo 18650 battery charger, model MTLC-04200-0650. I wouldn't leave home without this headlamp/flashlight. Totally reliable.

[ 3 to 23 Hours] I have been using this light regularly for weeks now, and it is by far my favorite headlamp. It is very comfortable to wear, while remaining secure on my head with almost no movement, no matter the task that I'm doing. It could be brighter, but for most tasks, it is more than bright enough. I really like the adjustable brightness, instead of just one or two preset brightness levels. I do wish that by default, the light came with a rechargeable battery, with the backup option of using AAA batteries, but the rechargeable battery isn't too expensive, and is worth buying.
