Electret Condenser Mic

[Black] We use the Sony ECM44BMP Electret Condenser Mic for the Sony WRT-805 Body Pack (Transmitter) and it really works well in terms of mic pickup and clarity of the speaker's voice.

[< 2.9 ms] I am using this lav mic to amplify a 5 string banjo. I had been using a generic electret battery driven lav mic (think radio shack) for that purpose, replacing the mini-plug with a female 1/4 inch, then using a standard guitar cord, plugging into a Baggs Para DI, then into the board of the sound system with an xlr mic line. That was OK, but I had lots of thin wire to coil, a fragile battery pod and the nusiance of dead watch batteries if I forgot to switch the thing off. The SM11 of course needs no batteries and the wiring is much more robust than the cheap lav mic. I can go direct into a mixing board and the sound is quite nice. The banjo doesn't really need a lot of high end amplification, and doesn't produce deep lows -- all of which the dynamic mic doesn't pick up. So the result is a nice warm sound, and much more full-spectrum than the electret mic to my ear. Probably because the diaphragm is larger, I guess. I don't need to hide this rather large (thumb size)lav canister in clothing, like a video person would. It rides in the backside of the banjo. The included tie clip worked fine, clipped to a little jig I sometimes use. But instead I wrapped the body in some dense memory foam, and made my own mount that also acts as a tone regulator behind the head -- it's an open-back banjo thing. Looks like this product is robust and should work for years. Works fine going straight into the mixing board. But when I run it through the Baggs Para DI (which is a preamp as well as a DI) I have to use a transformer to change the signal to HI-Z for the 1/4 inch input. Then the output from the Bagg's male xlr (lo-z again) is too hot for the mixing board, so I use a 20db attenuator between the DI out and the board mic-line in. Works fine that way.

[On/Off] You won't be disappointed with it and I have dynamic mic are way much better than condenser mic.

[End Address] I was using a Lewitt condenser mic of half the price. Upgrading to this setup has not disappointed. I love it!

[22 x 17 x 7"] I use this as an insert on a mic channel to help EQ a sensitive condenser microphone. Works great!

[Foam] Nice fit for protecting my Lauten condenser mic. Seems to help a little bit with sibilance as well.

First off... I'm a big fan of audio technica products... My first mic condenser was an at2020 xlr which I love when it comes to quality and price. Then when I've tried this usb at2020 I'm sure that this mic will perform great like the xlr type. Actually when you look at them closely the usb is kinda smoother looking than the xlr (aesthetically)... It has a nice blue light to tell that it's on... It picks up nicely like every mic condenser but in the usb range at2020 wins when it comes to clarity, durability, looks etc. The cons on this mic it has no multi pattern... Only cardioid but still deserves a 5 stars...

[50 Hz to 20 kHz] I bought the AKG C3000 primarily because I was looking for a decent condenser microphone, form a reputable manufacturer, within budget. I never expected a magnificent sound from this mic. But my expectations were surpassed considering the sound derived form the C3000. To begin with, this mic is solidly built in Vienna, Austria and looks elegant in black metallic finish. I use it with m101 preamp and the sound is clear and upfront. Given the price, it delivers a well defined sound. I am pleased!
